The black trim on the sides is just for show, however the black trim on top (3/4 shoe moulding) is glued/nail-gunned in place, that acts as the "guard" and keeps the inlays in place (which are 3/4" MDF panels, they are cut to fit, just swap in and out, takes less than 2 seconds to switch the inlays - each inlay has it's corresponding stick custom cut.

So, the controllers are actually cut into the inlay, touching the top of the "cab", then they have a 3/4" inlay keeping them in place.

That Blaze control panel looks nice but player one looks really far over to the left, is it comfortable?
Plenty comfortable, one reason I made the stand wider than it needed to be was to account for really large sticks, but yeah, that and drinks, games, remotes, etc -
The first pic shows from top down, the black trim has inner flat edges 3/4", the inlays are also 3/4", so just slide right in (and out) of the built in inlay.

That things awesome! I've never seen anyone create an arcade stand for their game room before. Really neat idea.

I have one - but didn't use it for this. Jig saw, circular saw, and a drill are the only tools you need! (not counting clamps/screws/glue/tape measurer/utility knife) - that's it)

That is freeken beautiful. A great simple idea to tackle the sliding arcade sticks!
