I can understand the hate for T3, but T4? What was wrong with T4? Yeah, no Arnold, but other than that it was a good movie. And it was the one I was waiting to come out for years. Ever since seeing the opening sequences in Terminator and T2, I've wanted to see a full movie set in the future like that.

Terminator 2 is my favourite action movie of all time.

Anyone else notice that all the Schwarzenegger video games have steam that hurt you?

<SPOILER ALERT>

I saw it two years ago, but I can remember the things that I didn't like about it.

1. The ridiculously overt political reference/commentary where John Connor yells, "If we stay the course we are dead!" That broke any immersion I might have had at that point.

2. For a super-intelligent machine, skynet was really stupid. I don't remember all of the details, but the whole scheme of having Sam Worthington be a machine and not know it was just not a good plan, period.

3. Skynet did the classic villain "I'm going to monologue my whole plan to you rather than just kill you" bit. That was at least part of point #2.

4. Given John Connor's previous experiences in Terminator 2 and 3, his irrational and anvil-droppingly illustrative hatred of Sam Worthington's machine character was pretty ridiculous in my opinion.

5. Incorporating Kyle Reese as a kid was just kind of awkward.

I'm pretty sure there were other things that bothered me about it, but those are what I remember at the moment. I did only see it once, two years ago. I actually enjoyed it fine as a dumb sci-fi action film. I just didn't like it as a Terminator film.

The skynet monologue thing was rediculous. They're both machines. It could have just instantly streamed all that information to sam worthington. That's ignoring the fact that the plan really made no sense anyway. Not that I can even remember what it was.

I have to wonder what the movie would have been like if it hadn't been rewritten to expand the john connor role. Was the focus really entirely on the man machine?

And as far as

"Ever since seeing the opening sequences in Terminator and T2, I've wanted to see a full movie set in the future like that."

I'm still waiting to see a movie set in the future like that. Salvation wasn't anything like the future shown in the first 3 movies. Maybe they were leading up to it but that probably won't happen now.

I wonder if instead of a terminator arnold will play the role of sergeant candy.

I wasn't shocked to see that T4 looked absolutely nothing like the dark dysotopian worlds we saw in T1/T2, but that doesn't mean I wasn't disappointed as hell either.

The characters and everything about T4 was just lame. I even honestly hated Christian Bale in it, seriously. He was either whispering or yelling cliche' lines out the ass, I remember his dialogue being horrendous. I also can't remember the music at all, but the T1/T2 music and themes will stick to mind forever.

T3 screwed up bigtime by ending with the fact that judgement day was unavoidable. Where the other two wera all about how the future can be changed.

T4 was just trying to give fans what they wanted a movie about the war itself but Terminator was always about preventing that dark future so it does not really make sense to make a movie like that no matter how well it could turn out. It's a contradiction of the original storyline.

I'd say that the first two tell a good story from beginning to end there never was a need for sequels. And certanly not the bland uninteresting crap that they eventually turned out to be.

I guess I should actually get around to watching the whole of T4. The first time I tried I fell asleep, the second time I was watching it on a plane and it landed so I didn't get to see all of it and the third time I tried the DVD was skipping so much it was unwatchable.
Something out there doesn't want me to watch it.

"When the fuel cells rupture they become unstable, relax.... RELAX!"

Like it's been said already, T1 and 2 are great movies. 3 and 4 sucked. I'm not gonna beat a dead horse at this point, let's just say I agree with mostly all the points that have been made.

James Cameron made the first two, let's face it, he makes some good movies. Since he wasn't involved at all with 3 and 4 (right?) I always got the feeling that who ever did those films was just in it for the money. That's why they sucked. If Cameron did 3 and 4 they would have been just as awesome, if not more awesome, then the first two.

5&6? If this BS actually happens, I guess I'll watch them. I'll watch anything once.
