Wait, what? When I click on the links from their website it brings me to the regular version of the game (not collectors edition). Am I missing something? I'd really like to get the collectors if it's the same price :D
If you look at the Amazon page you'll see the following blurb:
Dark Souls Collector's Edition Upgrade
Order Dark Souls and recieve an automatic upgrade to the Collector's Edition for no extra charge. The CE will include a limited edition art book, a mini-strategy guidebook, behind-the-scenes videos, and the game's soundtrack for digital download -- all packaged with the game in a custom-designed metal case. No action is required to receive this upgrade on existing pre-orders.
› See more product promotions
Based on past experience I'd say that the first run of Dark Souls will all be the CE, so you'll just get it by ordering the main game.

Thanks for pointing that out - I was a little thrown off by the default pictures instead of the collector's edition image.

On a side note, I like how their website's default year for entering your age is 1900  I've never seen one of those age verification things that runs backwards like that.

It's nice, because it saves me the trouble of having to scroll up to some arbitrary date in the past that may or may not correspond to my actual birth day.

Yeah, it's convenient, I was just a little surprised to see 1900 - like many 111 year olds are pre-ordering Dark Souls

Hell, I still haven't played Demon's Soul. I don't have a PS3, I have a 360 & a Wii. So I never got to play it. But I sooooo want to because I keep hearing how it's King's Field's successor and I am the HUGEST King's Field fan you will ever find.

So I'm freaking ESTATIC to see that Dark Souls is coming to XBox 360. I've been following development of it for months already. I just hope the story isn't heavily tied into the first game, but if it's like King's Field in that regard then it won't be a problem.

You should play Demon's Souls sometime man, it's so awesome, and even better if you're a King's Field vet.

The story/setting in Dark Souls is completely different from the story/setting in Demon's Souls, so you're all good.

I need to start Demon's Souls.

I picked it up at launch, created a character (which took forever because I'm so indecisive -TOO MANY OPTIONS!!(I think I ended up looking like Fujin from MK!)), then killed the blacksmith/merchant(?) guy near the staircase while fucking around. I figured I was screwed. Am I? Do I need to start over? The process of creating another character discouraged me, plus I never play my PS3.

Yeah you probably should start over. The blacksmith is the only way to repair broken weapons and armor unless you want to jump through some annoying hoops and risk accidental death every time you have a broken item.

you dont need to start over there is another blacksmith in world 2'1. the one you killed ends up being useless any way so it doesn't really matter just dont kill the second one.
