Re: N64 PassPort Plus III and TV help
I think I'm going to start a thread dedicated to listing boot codes for different games for the N64 Passport Plus 3. The information on the net is really scattered around and incomplete so I think it ill be good to gather them all in one place.
Mostly harmless

I've also noticed in Goldeneye that the mission objectives don't show on the pause screen. Do you have this aswell?

Edit: You're right, they don't show up correctly. I did find the correct code to make Goldeneye work properly. I think it corrects the missing right side of screen as well (didn't check it yet) on Mario Tennis as well. (Edit: no, it's still missing on my CRT but shoes great on one of my LCDs).maroneyr wrote:I've also noticed in Goldeneye that the mission objectives don't show on the pause screen. Basically it's the code i gave you but without the second line. So it's just

Re: N64 PassPort Plus III and TV help
Hi, my son and I are trying to get the J-N64 Zelda - Majora's Mask to play on his N64. We bought the Passport III and tried that but without success. We've searched the Internet for weeks and haven't come up with a code yet.
I found a way to modify the slot in the N64 console to remove the tabs, allowing the J-N64 cartridge to fit. We're in the US so the NTSC code is the same although the cycles here is 60 vs. 50 in Japan. Have any of you had any luck finding a code or getting the cartridge to work in the US console?

No Passport Needed for NTSC-J to NTSC-U.S.
The extra adaptor cart is another set of contacts that may give problems. Japanese carts will work fine with a U.S. N64 once the notch is remedied. Either swap the backs of the carts or cut out the notch inside the N64. I prefer just swapping the backs, the region notch helps to align the cart.
PAL to NTSC Passport
For some games staying in black and white, perhaps the Passport is not converting the PAL to NTSC signal correctly?

Did you read their post? They already switched to cutting the notches out of the system as well.CRTGAMER wrote:*stuff about modding and whatnot*

Perhaps the game and/or system needs a cleaning? Was this a verified good working Zelda J cart when it came to you?

I read it as discovered, not performed the mod. The cart back swap is easier, keeps the cart in better alignment for a better contact.Hobie-wan wrote:Did you read their post? They already switched to cutting the notches out of the system as well.CRTGAMER wrote:*stuff about modding and whatnot*

You're right, it could be taken either way.CRTGAMER wrote:Hobie-wan wrote: Did you read their post? They already switched to cutting the notches out of the system as well.

The cart cleaning you suggested will also help.Hobie-wan wrote:You're right, it could be taken either way.CRTGAMER wrote:I read it as discovered, not performed the mod. @ richw46 - let us know if you get the cart to work. If you do take it apart for the back swap, the contacts are easier to get to for cleaning.

Re: N64 PassPort Plus III and TV help
Sorry for any confusion. We haven't made the mod to the console yet, but we did purchase the Passport III, which doesn't work for this cartridge; it just hangs.
We have ordered the tool that will allow us to open the console. It should arrive this week. I asked the person on eBay and he said that the game played fine on his Japanese N64 but he didn't try it on an American version.
Since it doesn't play in the Passport I was hoping someone had experience playing it just in the console after the modification. I guess we'll find out this week.
