Game save data for PS1 and PSN?
Re: Game save data for PS1 and PSN?
@irixith
Cool, I thought that worked but I was somewhat unsure since I haven't done it in a long time and I couldn't quite remember if there were any issues. Somehow I missed your post saying you've been able to do it. Methinks I scroll too quick sometimes.
@Noise
No problem, I was really surprised when I stumbled upon that answer on Gamefaqs. I'm glad it helps.

Re: Game save data for PS1 and PSN?
no luck moving my PS1 memory card saves to my PS3. I tried using the gamefaqs guide that czernobog posted. This is what I did:
Using FreeMCBoot, I copied and pasted all of my PS1 saves from my PS1 memory card onto a USB drive in the directory:
PS3/EXPORT/PSV
I then plugged the USB drive into my PS3, went to the memory card browser and clicked USB and... no files found.
I noticed that the example on the gamefaqs guide said that the save files that you'd download from gamefaqs or other places on the net would actually have a file extension of .PSV so as such, I renamed the game saves on my USB drive to end in .PSV. I plugged the USB drive back into my PS3 and browsed to the USB drive to find that now all of the files were detected... but all of them were "Corrupted Data."
so... any ideas?

Did you see if it works without renaming the files? That's the only thing I can think of trying.noiseredux wrote:no luck moving my PS1 memory card saves to my PS3. I tried using the gamefaqs guide that czernobog posted. This is what I did:

yes, that's what I tried first, and the PS3 didn't detect any files as being on the USB drive. They were only detected (as corrupt data) when I renamed them with .PSV.Czernobog wrote: Did you see if it works without renaming the files? That's the only thing I can think of trying.

Hmmm, have you set up a Virtual Memory card yet?noiseredux wrote:yes, that's what I tried first, and the PS3 didn't detect any files as being on the USB drive. Yup. I have a fully working PS1 VM on my PS3.Czernobog wrote:

Damn. I have no idea man, if I think of anything else I'll post here right away. Hopefully someone will be able to tell us why it's not working. If you want, I can play around with a save on my PS3 and see if I can get it to work if you're ok with sending me one of the files through my email (before the extension was added just in case that changed anything, although I don't know why it would).noiseredux wrote:Yup. Alright just send it to [email protected] when you can and I'll see if I can figure anything out. I want this to work too cause I'm interested in doing it with my old saves so I'll do everything I can to figure it out.noiseredux wrote:sure I can email you a save tonight.

do you have a list of PS1 games you own? It would make sense for me to send you a save file for a game that you have.
