Final Fantasy games for me because I usually go the distance with acquiring everything, doing every side quest and beating every optional boss. I have logged more than enough hours into FF 3, 10 and 12 to justify what I paid for them. Even FF 13 which featured a lot less content than previous entries still gave me my money's worth I think. I also sunk tons of hours into FF 7, but that was a gift from an old girlfriend so I didn't actually pay for it
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I bought it on a whim after hearing a friend talk about it. It wasn't even on my radar before hearing about it from him and I really had very little experience with non-japanese rpgs at the time. Something told me to buy it though. Gaming instinct perhaps? Ended up being one of my favorite games ever and I played through it twice as light side and dark side....then realized I would never play another Bioware game as an "evil" character. It had its fun moments sure, but overall I just felt like an awful excuse for a human being
Viva Pinata - Lost hours upon hours in this game and every single one was relaxing and fun. If ever there was a game to play to simply put a smile on your face and help you release whatever stresses the day has brought on, it is this one
Batman Arkham Asylum - I bought the Xbox 360 version and the PS3 version and played them both twice. Four times through the game total, two of which were on hard mode. I also completed all the challenge rooms and all trophies/achievements on both versions of the game. I can see myself probably buying another copy at some point just to have a sealed one. I freaking love Batman! So this game was like a gift from the gods
Starfox 64 - I was absolutely obsessed with this game ever since I saw it and played it at a friend's house, at which point everyone in the room might as well have not been there as the game pretty much possessed my soul from that point on. I went out and both an N64 not long after with a copy of Zelda Ocarina of Time and Starfox 64. I sank waaaaay more time into Starfox, even got all the medals

Do you play regular Halo PC or Custom Edition. I can never seen to find servers on regular and can only get servers on Custom Edition version 1.00. Im still sad that my old faves no longer opperate.Czernobog wrote:Halo: Combat Evolved on PC for its multiplayer. I believe it was twenty dollars new when I got it, but I would be just as happy with it if I payed full ticket price. I still play it at least once a week for a couple hours and have a lot of fun doing so. People modify the maps all the time to include teleports (which are generally indicated so everyone can find them) that allow you to go to pretty much any part of the map. Of course there's plenty of servers using non-modded maps as well. Plus, I honestly only ever suspected one person of using an aimbot in all the time I've played the game. I'm surprised by how many polite people I play with on there (many of the regular players see each other on different servers fairly often and get along with one another).

Portal 2 and Pokemon Ruby, the only games I have ever purchased new/full price.

Looking at the box and read me file all it says anywhere is Halo Combat Evolved. I can't find anything that says Custom Edition, but there's always plenty of servers with players when I boot it up. Unless you're remembering CE as Custom Edition instead of Combat Evolved? Or I might just not know how to tell the difference.MrHealthy wrote:Do you play regular Halo PC or Custom Edition. Wow, looking at the box is pretty interesting though. I didn't know it could be installed in Windows 98SE, that's a fun fact.

Custom Edition from what I remember was just a download that gave access to TONS of modded content for multiplayer and whatnot, where everyone made custom maps and everything (that beat the heck out of everything Bungie ever made). This is the very reason why the sequels didn't rank up there with the original to me at all. I wonder if the community is still active...Czernobog wrote:Looking at the box and read me file all it says anywhere is Halo Combat Evolved. This was one of the best maps ever:
As for the topic, I've bought a lot of worthless new games especially in the last couple of years, but there's still so many good ones I wouldn't know where to start. I guess... Ocarine of Time? Since that was one I saved up a bunch of allowance for back in the day, so it was extra satisfying.

King of Fighters XI (PS2) was only $20 when it came out (I believe...), but I would have easily paid $50 or higher for it. One of my favorite fighters of all time.
