You can get Half-Life: Decay on the PC now with this mod.

Yes actually. I was just talking about this with someone. Supposedly Tuxthewise was able to cut the load times in half.

I got the PS2 version a few months ago and as I wanted to play the series from start to finish again I thought I would do it with the consoles ports so make it a bit different, I got a little over halfway before I could not take it anymore.

Even with the keyboard and mouse the controls are really floaty, it is never precise. The game engine itself runs surprisingly well and on my 42inch panel via component cables it looked great, but it is just a pain in the ass to control. If you need to use a keyboard and mouse for a console game, you might as well play it on the PC. At the halfway point this is what I did.

Play it on the PC, as good as the PS2 port is (and as bad as its controls are), it is leaps and bounds behind the PC version.

I have played both versions to completion, and I must say the PC version is the better buy. Better controls, faster loads, faster saves, it has the two expansion packs, and it's easier (because of the better controls.) If you want to get into Half Life 1, get this compilation: http://product.half.ebay.com/Half-Life- ... 04&tg=info

It's the best compilation of Half Life 1, since it includes Half Life, Opposing Force, Blue Shift, Team Fortress Classic, and Counter Strike. It was the last non-Steam compilation, which is why it's considered the ultimate HL 1 collection. Make sure you get the second edition, it has more games than the first edition.

Well, for me personally, I'm never especially good with keyboard and mouse.
I played some Half-Life multi-player back in college -- fun, but I was never good.

But I've played a decent amount of Unreal Tournament on both the Dreamcast and PS3 in addition to TimeSplitters 2 on the Gamecube and I had far better success with those.

Did it get released? I'd love to play it -- it makes such a nice addition to the Dreamcast's library, but the stock load times are a bit much.

Also, I don't think that the leaked beta of Half-Life is really indicative of what the console was capable of, nor what the final release was going to be like. From what I understand, Valve just never got around to optimizing the load times... the load-times were in the exact same places as the PC version, so cut 'em in half like Tux has apparently done and you've got a straight port of the PC game, but with better graphics.

There is also Half Life: Source for the PC, which has updated graphics. Add to that the High Definition Pack and you're looking at a much prettier Half Life.
