Bored me to tears.

The characters made my skin crawl, the fighting system was boring, every area was a glorified tunnel...

My complaints about the game aren't any different from other people who didn't like it really. The fact remains though, that I dropped 60 bucks on the damn thing and seriously regret it. I never got past the first disc. The game just did nothing for me.

Its time I got around to selling it, because I'm sure as hell not gonna play it again.

No wonder you hated the game! The 1st half of the games pretty much sucks. But the 2nd half of the game is great. The characters stop sucking, the areas stop becoming long narrow hall ways, and it just becomes a overall better game.

Getting back on topic.
Wii Play. Paid full $50 price for it and HATED the game. All the mini games were awful and there was nothing else in the game besides them.

This is no excuse for generally terrible game design. The "it gets better!" defense sucks.

I never had a problem with Lair. I actually think its a pretty good game.

Though, it's hard to not like a game where you get to ride around on a dragon and burn people.

If I had to pick one, it would probably be 3D Dot Game Heroes. Its a good game but, after about 15 hours in, I just got completely sick of it.

I haven't touched it since. I think I'd like it if it didn't make things so tedious in the world view. Why make me run around like that? I died more in the over world than I did in any of the dungeons. Thats not to say the temples/dungeons weren't challenging. In fact, they were perfect. Why make me go through all the crappy world puzzles that are just filled with frustration to get to the fun ones? :?

Well, my PS3 account got intruded into for the 2nd time a month or two ago, so, I'm playing through all my games again right now. I'll be going through it after Heavy Rain here soon. Maybe my opinion will change.

Did you play it when it first came out? Somebody told me they added regular controls on top of the motion controls recently, and it really helped a lot. When it was first released you HAD to use the motion controls and they weren't very responsive, hence flying into walls.

Hey, don't bitch at me for the poor level design. Go complain to Square Enix
(Plus I'm weird and I enjoy games people generally dislike (Sonic Heroes for example).)

The 2nd half gets better defense for FF 13 is weak. I can see using that defense for a movie that only gets good in the 2nd half because if it sucks for 45 minutes and is awesome for the later 45 thats might be pasable.

But we are talking 10+ hours here to get any enjoyment from ff 13 which is asking way too much considering most people walk out of a movie if it really really sucks way before getting to the 45 minute mark.

The Orange Box (360): Yes it's an awesome game. Yes, it's an incredible game. Yes, it's one of the best 5 games in history. But I bought it in October 2007 for $60, and 1 month later, Target had a Black Friday sale, and The Orange Box was only $40. Then, sometime next year, I was walking past the electronics section in Walmart, and I saw a display with tons of copies of The Orange Box for a mere $20. I felt like I really should have waited. I didn't expect such a quick reduction in price, because other games like Halo 3 and COD4 took forever to get price drops.

i bought 7 and loved it. i bought 8 and hated it. discs 2-4 are in mint shape since i never got past disc 1. i absolutely hated the battle system.

i would like to try it again, but the thought of trying to complete a RPG just doesn't sound too fun. maybe this summer when i have more free time.

Anayo wrote:I bought Gunstar Super Heroes brand new for $30, because I loved Treasure and Gunstar Heroes on the Genesis.

At first the game blew me away cause the graphics were really good. Then as time wore on I got out my Sega Genesis and played the original, and well... it was more fun. The GBA version took out 'mixable weapons', had fewer enemies on screen at once, lacked multiplayer I could use (I knew no one else with another copy of the game), and generally fell short of the original enough for me to notice.

Then a matter of months later the game dropped to $20. It didn't make me feel like I'd spent my money on something that would hold it's value very well. I look back on this as a purchase I wish I had waited for instead of buying close to launch.

Name a game you bought brand new and regretted. Or even a system, cause that's even more regretful.

I'm not sure I've ever completely regretted buying a game new. There have been several wii games I rushed out to buy on launch only for them to drop significantly in price in a few months time (Muramasa, Little Kings Story, Zack and Wiki), but as I loved all those games, I don't really regret it. Most of the games I'm less certain about I've waited on, and bought them for cheap.

Oh wait, I thought of one: Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life for gamecube. I bought it as soon as it was available, and I quickly regretted it. It over complicated everything from the older harvest moons, had an almost empty town with nothing interesting to do and took out the conveniences for big farming that some other harvest moons added, such as having harvest sprites work for you, and upgrading tools to water more squares and the likes. It was pretty bad.
Luckily, I bought Friends of Mineral Town around the same time, and that one rocks.

Another possible one is Custom Robo Arena for DS. It was fun for a little bit, but it got old fast. I wasn't a fan.

Actually, it was whilst thinking of these I realised that I havent been buying games brand new for very long. Only GBA, Gamecube, DS and Wii games have been bought by me when they were new, and even then, about 1/4 to 1/2 of those consoles games were bought 2nd hand or when the price for a new copy and dropped.

I would list Wii Play too, but it cost me £35, and it had wii remote in it worth £30. Frankly, it gave me an incentive to buy a wii remote and play multiplayer. It's a pretty bad game, but for essentially £5, I'm not fussed.

The only game that popped into my mind right away was Bioshock 2 LE. Not in terms of gameplay, though it wasn't nearly as engaging as the first, but because of the initial price that I KNEW would drop rapidly within the next few months. Limited my foot.

I have several SE games I feel this way about. Killzone 3 is the most recent...the CE is now like $40-$50 cheaper everywhere than it was on release day
