the only games I buy on PSN are ones I really want and have no UMD option on. Personally, I'm a big fan of the UMD format. Sure it gobbles up the battery, but holy jeez if the UMD package isn't awesome looking!

It's a huge pain in the ass, because you need an internet connection to do it (unless I am mistaken).

The Japanese PSN selection for PSP, PS1 and PC Engine games is incredible. I can play DoDonpachi, Thunder Force V, Soldier Blade, Gradius II, the Super Grafx version of Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Street Fighter Zero 2 and Devil's Crush on the go. Awesome!

Alright, what are the values of the US PSN cards?

Are they too expensive, or are there, say, $10 cards? I don't think I'll ever spend more than $20 on a game after all.

If you are thinking about going download only you should have plenty of games to occupy your time. On the other hand, there is a number of older games for the system you'd miss out on and some of the downloads are over 1GB.
That's cool. I've gone over the selection and it's fine.

I don't have much problem with big downloads. My connection is 10 Mbps, and unless Sony servers are absolutely sluggish, the downloads shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.

They do look good. I wish it was an option for me.

PSN cards are limited to USD $20 and $50, otherwise you could charge on your credit card - which can be risky if your card is stolen.

The PSN cards uses pin codes and are activate after being purchased.

Aesthetically I can't say I disagree, but personally I'm not a fan of UMDs because they break so damn easy. If the original owner of a PSP game takes good care of their stuff there's nothing to worry about...but from my experience most people don't, and for someone who works with used games all day long it gets a little old opening up PSP cases to find broken UMDs inside. Although I suppose it's possible I wouldn't be so annoyed if it weren't part of my job
Funny thing is, third-party replacement UMD cases are extremely sturdy (although I hate to use them...they just look ugly). I wish Sony had invested a little more into packaging so this wouldn't be an issue.

If I didn't hate digital releases so much I'd probably just avoid UMDs all together, so in that sense I don't feel like you're missing much jfrost.

I buy tons of PC stuff off Steam, GOG and other places and I'd venture to guess that they're pretty happy with my business. My money is as green as the Americans', I'd guess. Just fucking allow PayPal and I'll not bother anyone, really.
The problem might be your country's laws rather than Sony. Doesn't Brazil have really high taxes/etc on video games?

So Steam/GOG use Paypal and that's how you're able to buy stuff from them? Do they allow you to use a normal credit card?

oh yeah, functionally it's whatever. But aesthetically, UMD's releases are some of the finest looking games you're going to see on a shelf. Haha.

I personally use PayPal, but I can use the credit card normally if I want too, a lot of friends do. Brazil does have huge, ridiculous taxes on video games, but they don't apply to digital downloads, only physical stuff.
