Regarding looting, was there anything to loot after 23ft waves wiped out villages? I mean, all of this stuff was damaged by water.
Really a shit post.
For what it's worth, I believe he was referring to modern day Japanese people. No need for Wikipedia links either, I believe most people are familiar with the events.
Yes i do agree wtih you on that, Japanese can be really cruel if they wanted to...and sometime its hard to forget what they are capable of. I mean they were a war machine back in WW2 . Taking over much of China and Indochina region with swift movement and precision in a short period of time. And eventually conquering much of islands surrounding Japan. They should of stop there instead of attacking the US.
Yes the Japanese were cruel they were just like the Nazi of Asia...they thought themself to be the superior race of the Asians thus making them easier to kill, slaughter, rape, plunder, and enslave.
But overtime i guess they change and now they love helping out their Asian brothers.
Japan to provide 94 mln USD to Cambodia despite quake impact
PHNOM PENH, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The government of Japan on Tuesday signed up to provide a total grant aid of 94 million U.S. dollars to Cambodia for social and economic development though the country was severely hit by the massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11.
The exchange of notes for the grant was signed between Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and Masafumi Kuroki, Japanese ambassador to Cambodia, presided over by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
According to the media release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the aid will be used to implement three projects: the flood and drainage improvement in Phnom Penh (45 million U.S. dollars), replacement and expansion of water distribution system in provincial capitals (33.66 million U. S. dollars), and improvement of equipment for demining activities (15.83 million U.S. dollars).
The Friday's catastrophic earthquake in Japan, measuring 9.0 magnitudes on the Richter scale, has claimed 2,414 lives and left 3,118 others missing in Japan by 8:00 a.m. local time, said the Japanese National Police Agency.

As a descendant of family members directly affected by Japan's aggression in Asia, I am not going to turn this into a debate about something a brainwashed army did, I just want to say that Tojo does not represent the Japanese people nor the emperor. It's typical of most people do generalize an entire nation and culture because of what a small fraction of the population did. Don't generalize. As you may not know, Japanese civilians were against Tojo and the war itself. Keep in mind there are A LOT of Chinese aiding the Nanking massacre. Something Iris Chang didn't focus on in her book which I own and have read many times.
As for loot, there was plenty of it to be had. Many storefronts, businesses and homes were abandoned with all goods still inside. Remember, there was an earthquake before the tsunami.
I know (or hope, at least) you're just playing Devil's advocate.

Yeah, I was talking about the Japanese people of today.
I'm not saying every Japanese person is perfect. Generally speaking, I think the Japanese are generally very honest, kind and considerate people.
The Japanese are a very xenophobic people and are not always kind to those who are not Japanese. A modern day example would be the way Korean and Chinese remittance laborers are treated. This is the natural result of having a 99% homogeneous population and a long, long history of cultural isolation.
This isn't a bad thing to say about the Japanese. It's just a thing.
As a consequence, the Japanese belief that the Japanese are superior carries with it an innate respect for other Japanese. They identify with each other. They recognize each other as 'part of the club'. They don't loot one another because they do not have the necessary cultural distinctions that allow them to view crimes against another Japanese as a justifiable or rational act.
It's pretty damn remarkable, actually.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
