Yeah, just use bittorrent.
Also, listen to X Japan. Art of Life, Kurenai, Endless Rain, 20th Century Boy, Sadistic Desire, Weekend, etc. Lots of fun songs. L'arc en Ciel is awesome, but you already seem to know them.

Glad to see I'm not the only X Japan fan here.

Re: Downloading Asian Music
Some Japanese metal suggestions from me, I'll do the YouTube thing too:
Death Metal:
Followbane
Blood Stain Child (this song is good too, their style varies)
Sorrow of Tranquility
Vagerke
Other:
Animetal (they do metal covers of anime openings/songs, click link to get you wa shocked)
Sex Machineguns (just some good heavy metal, pretty well known one)
Grief of War (thrash metal, kind of like Japanese slayer)
Concerto Moon (fantastic guitar work)
I second Loudness and Galneryus all the way.
Also I want to give a shout out to S.S.H. here. He does the best metal mixes of video game music I've ever heard. Give these a listen:
Final Fantasy 6 Boss Theme
Guilty Gear - Holy Orders (Ky's Theme)
Castlevania Medley
If you liked that stuff, here's his site: http://www.ssh.ne.jp/

Re: Downloading Asian Music
Pioneer was bringing some stuff over, at least soundtrack wise. Tofu Records (part of Sony) put out some Polysics and Boom Boom Satellites over here as well, but it doesn't seem to have blossomed into more things coming over.AppleQueso wrote:You'd think one of the bigger companies behind localizing anime would've gone into the business of buying up distribution rights to various popular j-pop and j-rock artists. Seems like the market is there...

Could try http://www.tokyotosho.info/ (just a torrent indexer, but it's helped me find some asian stuff before)

This is where I get all of my Japanese media, music included.Anapan wrote:Could try http://www.tokyotosho.info/ (just a torrent indexer, but it's helped me find some asian stuff before)
There have been a few times I really wanted to find a particular Japanese song, but there is no legal way for me to do it. Either the song is completely impossible to buy, or there is something wrong with it such as DRM.
It sucks but bit torrent is pretty much the only way to go. It's the same deal with anime. That's why I use bit torrent for this stuff. I used to buy American DVDs but that is obsolete compared to downloading video files off the internet.
If there was a cheap way for me to legally get the same kind of product I regularly get from bit torrent, I would be all over it. Not needing to spend so much time searching the internet for files of unknown quality would be great. But also, I could be supporting something that I think deserves to be supported.
