console > PC
Re: console > PC
Personally I feel that each control scheme is suited for different genres. FPS, RTS is amazing with mouse and keyboard, while platformers and arcadey games are better in a controller. And you can get around " the tv is bigger" by hooking your pc up to the tv and use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

I'll never totally get the controller/keyboard argument. For me it's far more depending on the game itself, the game mechanics and feel. For instance, as much as I played Halo CE to death, I still think those games are far more suited for controllers. Half-Life 2 on the other hand, even though I've played the Xbox/360 versions, I think feels way better on the PC.
I guess that's me though, I can go back and forth pretty easily. The funny thing is on controllers I play inverted, but non-inverted on the PC...

Re: console > PC
Console games are made for specific hardware and work exactly as intended on every single console. PC games are different on every single machine. Even if I have the right "minimum specs" my framerate or graphics might not look how they were intended.
Re: console > PC
I was gonna say the same thing, but I had to post real quick and get ready for work. But my PS3 actually pisses me off in regards to updates. I don't play my PS3 everyday (unless I'm playing through a game) so it seems that every time I turn it on I have to update. It gets annoying.FerretGamer wrote:I hate to say it but the line between console and PC gaming is rapidly becoming non-existant.
PC gaming is just as streamlined today as console gaming. In fact, you could say that consoles today are too much like a PC. They are constantly needing to be updated, patched, etc. Consoles also have digitally distributed content, hard drives, online gaming, etc.
That, and a lot of games now have to be installed to the hard drive. So the argument for consoles that you can just put your game in and play, not so true anymore. I remember when I first got my PS3, that thing was out of the box the second I got home, but I was actually playing until over an hour later. First I had to update the system which took a while, then I had to install GTA4 (the only game I had) which took quite a while as well. I would have been playing a new PC game in a lot less time.
That's not entirely true. We were just talking about this in the PS2 appreciation thread. The 75001 model PS2 (slim) has a list of PS2 games that are not compatible. Apparently they fixed this with newer models, but hey, there are some PS2 games that wont work on some PS2 consoles. This might become true with future 360 and PS3 slim models.ujnhunter wrote:Console games are made for specific hardware and work exactly as intended on every single console.
Re: console > PC
The couch is the biggest reason I prefer console gaming. In college I did become a mainly PC gamer but after I got a job and spend all day sitting on a desk chair with a keyboard and mouse playing games on a desk chair isn't nearly as relaxing as playing them on a couch.

Most video cards support HDMI out these days. Wireless keyboards, mice, and gamepads are readily available. There's no reason you can't play PC games from the couch.

Re: console > PC
i agree... i like to play on my systems rather than on my pc... but there are some pc exclusives i don't wanna miss out on.. so i use my pc to play them..
my biggest problem with the pc is that the keyboard is not a controller.. my cousin claims that the pc version is ALWAYS better.. but even if that were true i still would chose the console version cuz i dont like the keyboard..

Re: console > PC
Usually PCs are better for 1st person shooters like doom, battlefield etc... in fact PC defined that genre (back in time with castle wolfenstein, doom...)
I agree that consoles are easier to use. But today kids still prefer consoles coz they still get mass media appeal.
Personally, i love both.

Re: console > PC
Main reason for me is money. Console gaming is a lot cheaper with the average brand-new console costing $300 to $400 and the average gaming PC costing $1200 or more.
I seriously wish I had the money to buy a decent gaming PC though because there are a ton of really good looking games on the PC that you can't get on consoles. Entire genres too.
