Meh. I don't see the big deal. He's complaining about retro gamers who claim that everything made recently sucks. He has a valid point there.

The problem is, how often do you actually see that type of retro gamer? Look here, there's constant discussion about modern games. He's pretty much making a strawman if that's his point.

I always preferred NFL Blitz on the Nintendo 64 to Madden. Sure, Madden's a well built football game, but Blitz was practically a wrestling title with football teams thrown in. It's all well and good until somebody suplexes the quarterback.

I watched the video. He is part-trolling part making some decent points. It is not the best way for a reasoning, but I guess it works better to get an audience.

Some of my own comments:

There are oblivious retrogamers that are actually as he says, but given his presentation he is hypocritical at best - I would say that oblivious retrogamers also make some decent points in the middle of their comments among other stuff that just isn't correct (just as what he did), but I think the oblivious retrogamers do not do it on purpose whereas I think he did.

Some old games really are good and some really are bad. This goes also for new games.This will depend on the gamer, it is not 100% objective.

Kids, even young kids, are not stupid and have taste and I think adults really should respect that.
On the other hand I can not justify respecting adults that "intentionally stop" enjoying some stuff they liked as kids (and worse, they also tend to peer pressure others to also stop enjoying "kids stuff") - I find it hard to respect someone that does not even respect him or herself the way he or she is. (tastes change and evolve, I'm not against that - I can try clarifying it if anyone does not get what I am saying and is interested)

Last week, seeing that Crysis 2 for PC was leaked before release, he said "that's why developers hate PC gamers", implying most PC games are pirates. He even said that the PC version should be pulled because of that.

When people pointed out that almost all big console games are leaked before release, he said that doesn't justify piracy. Of course it doesn't, dipshit, but your point is that there's something special about PC gamers that makes them become dirty pirates. And then he wonders why people get defensive on the comments.

Haha, I think the only football game I ever truly liked was NFL 2k for dreamcast. So retro gaming kind of wins this time.

Of course it is, if it doesn't polarise then no one talks about it. yes he's ultimately being facetious but that's the point, it's a debate starter not a sermon. I think he's top class, he's nicely filled the hole left behind when 'Rev Rants' stopped.
