No. In addition to the cost, the solder risk. A fat PS2 flip top is inexpensive and very easy to install.

So with the flip top installed on the Fat PS2 you can install the import game without swap magic?

Can i run games from the system as normal, or will i always have to sue the hard drive?

Yes to both, its all in that guide, I just updated to clarify normal functionality of the PS2 DVD reader. Besides, why run a PS2 game using the disc reader? The installed game loads so much faster and is more convenient.

In case i have to run a game not supported by HDadvance.

So let me check my shopping list.

Fat PS2

A flip top

Copy of HDadvance 3.0

A PS2 Network Adapter

and 1 Pata Hardrive up to 200GB
