throwing the towel in.....
Re: throwing the towel in.....
You will probably regret it later but good luck in doing whatever you feel is best for you.

Re: throwing the towel in.....
I've occasionally thought of saying "screw it" and relying on emulation but I haven't reached that point yet. I still like how my games look on display and they're only going to go up in value by sitting around.
I think you're letting your backlog psyche you out. Collecting games don't mean you're signing an unwritten contract to play them all to the end. But if it's something that stresses you out then I don't blame you for selling off your collection. If something is giving you more pain than joy it's time to give it up.
Keep your favorites though or you'll just end up cursing yourself when you get an itch for them and need to track them down again.

I've been throwing in the towel for some time now...Games just are not what they used to be for me either anymore...but it just takes so long to get rid of them unless you donate them .....
Good luck and if you change your minds..there are a ton of good people here at racketboy to help you recover what you have sold Im sure!

Ditto to the thought about throwing in the towel. I was attempting to collect Saturn games and SNES games over some time now, but after much frustration, I found a happy medium of buying current games (mainly limited editions with artbooks), gamefly, and rebuying old PSX games I played in my childhood.
Still, best of luck man, If you look at all the money you plan to rake in while selling your collection, I'm sure there will be no regrets.

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

i've done that too. sold off original copies and went 100% emulation, and back to originals again, but you hit the nail right on the head. It's not much fun anymore. I really have to push myself past the first few hours of a game, i'm just not interested in sticking it out. I keep looking to recapture the feeling that gaming used to give me, and it's just not happening. The thrill is long gone and i can't see the wisdom of spending more and more money on something that only disappoints me and i get nothing from. It's just not fulfilling anymore

Re: throwing the towel in.....
As others have alluded to you might regret if you go cold turkey and sell everything. Maybe just don't buy any more game related stuff for a while. Then if a few months later you at least still have your games to rediscover.

I try to sell mine off one small collection at a time and then I buy more of my other stuff..then I sell off that stuff and then I buy more stuff.....terrible, just cant get it out of my head...
Re: throwing the towel in.....
yeah, i want off the merry-go-round. i guess i'm tired mentally too of chasing the next deal/steal. I takes up waaay too much space mentally and just don't need or want it anymore.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think you will be selling?
