I hated the stock buttons on some of their lower priced sticks, but I have not played with that model.

LOL. Well i figure its better to get a PS2 specific stick that also has to be younger.
Less wear and tear.
Still not going much over 50 for this though.
One other question though.
Do you need a wired 360 controller to use the PS2 to 360 adapter?

Yes. It will not work with a wireless 360 controller, even with the attachable USB thingy you can get for the wireless controllers. It needs to be the one with a breakaway near the USB plug. dsheinem was asking about using a 3rd party wired 360 controller on that adapter in the tech. help section but hasn't gotten an answer yet.

I ordered the part anyway. As soon as the Chinese are done celebrating new year's long enough to ship it to me, I'll report back.

I guess those wired controllers are pretty cheap, and if a third party one works all the better.
Do any of the PS2 to PS3 adapters still work after the update?

That 360 adapter from DX does have a 360/PS3 switch. I wasn't aware that an update made PS2-USB adapters stop working (I don't have a PS3 but I lent a few PS-USB adapters to my friend to try and make guitar hero work on his PS3). Maybe a sixaxis plugged in to it's USB input would fix the problem. If nobody else can try the adapter, I can take some hardware over to his house and try it. I've been meaning to try the Pixeljunk games on his system anyway.

I would recommend either the Street Fighter 15th anniversary stick or the Hori Tekken 5 arcade stick. I own both of them and they are very nice build quality and work great.
