Sometimes the water would shut off for 15 minutes when Engineering was switching tanks, seemed to always happen when in the shower full of soap. Here's one anyone who served on an Aircraft Carrier will remember. Once in a while, JP5 jet fuel in the drinking water. Damn snipes!

Ugh, I did a quick deployment on the Shitty Kitty back in 2005. I will NEVER forget the taste of JP5. You cannot filter it out, you cannot cover it up. Any time I would serve on a ship that did NOT have any aviation capability was always a joy - the water never tasted so sweet.

Not sure. Maybe the salt water inlets sucking up a accidental discharge of the fuel?
