Admittedly I only made it a bit onto the second disc on 2 separate occasions, but I don't remember any issues playing on my 30001. I didn't own a PS1 until much later so I'm certain I was playing it on my PS2.Bradtemple87 wrote:I have heard legend of dragoon has issues

The US version would probably work on a US 90000 series slim.

I have a slim PS2 model 90001, and I tried my copy out just to be sure.PSony wrote:The US version would probably work on a US 90000 series slim.
It has problems with puzzle fighter
It will play on my fatty PS2 just fine. But no such luck with my other.

That's odd. my Japanese Puzzle Fighter works on a Japanese 90000 perfectly fine.

Re: Puzzle Fighter vs PS2 Slim
ok, so I've confirmed that the European version will actually play on my US Slim. Although there's a black bar across the top of the screen. I assume this has something to do with being PAL rather than NTSC?
At any rate, I can't find a Japanese ISO to test. But my guess is this means that the Japanese disc would probably work as well. So as long as I can confirm I plan to buy the Japan import version...

Re: Puzzle Fighter vs PS2 Slim
big update:
Thanks to jinn, I have now confirmed that the Japanese version of Super Puzzle Fighter II boots perfectly on a US slim PS2 (if you have modded it to play imports). This is really kind of huge for those fans of Puzzle Fighter who have been bummed to find that the super awesome Slim would just not boot it. The Japanese version is barely any more expensive than the US version right now. And more amazing -- the menu screens are in English AND Japanese, so you don't even have to do guess work on options. I'm literally buying my Japanese CIB copy on eBay right this very second!
I know this isn't a ground-breaking discovery, but honestly Puzzle Fighter is one of my absolute favorite games of all time. So I'm really, really thrilled to have discovered this work-around!
EDIT: also it appears the Japanese cover art was way cooler than the US!
