final fight cd wrote:i think over at both sega-16 and nintendoage, a member is selling custom sticker labels to put on the ends of the games. from what other people were saying about them, they are really nice and work very well.

you just can't buy a few, you have to buy the complete set of them and i forget the price.

I believe 8bit used to do that here. I don't know if he is still making them or not.

emwears, I LOVE that idea. That would be pretty snazzy if they had those in clear. I'd be all over that!

I'd like to know more about those end labels too. Curious how they look. I miiight consider them if they look real professional and aren't just plain text.

There was a post some months back about a copy paste titles from game cardboard boxes or a scan off the front of the game cart. I can't find it but an easy idea to make custom end labels. You can get special label paper or just use double sided tape/carpet tape. Clear Transparent Tape (not Magic) to protect the custom label.

As far as organizing I just have shelves behind me of Alphabetized CD / DVD cases. For the Game Carts I built custom wood shelves that are cut to size matching the width and height of my N64 carts stored contacts down. Keeps the dust out of the contacts and I don't have to hold eight carts to pull one. There is enough air space above each cart for my finger or a taller Game Shark cart to fit. Five shelves tall. Laminated Wood flooring makes great space saving lightweight thin shelving material. I used a finish nailer for a quick and clean fit. Shelves are held together with ¾" slats. Each shelf layer is also independent of each other, makes for easy swapping around or moves if need be. More shelves can also be easily added as the library grows. Gameboy carts a real pain, A Gamestop or Golfball display case seems the best way.

Wow, those are nice! A label link?

I was thinking about my cart shelf in my previous Reply. The carts are stored alphabetically with contacts down to keep the dust out. I usually can find games easily, leaving a spot open when a cart is removed. Having a label on top will help, but a smaller side label might be better. It would have to be on the side facing outwards. Upper half of the side edge to avoid being torn when inserted in the N64.

I would worry more about labels fading due to light more than dust.
I use something like that for my controllers
