I never had a 32x nor did I know anything about it until I joined these forums. Regarding the cost, I'm amazed at how much people are willing to spend on video games that just came out. You think 32x is expensive? The Saturn came out at $399. The PS3 was $499 & $599. Wow, that's a lot of moolah for a "toy".
Never actually tried it myself but I've heard from multiple people that Kega Fusion is the best way to go.

I'm also amazed how much people will spend sometimes. IMO at the time the Saturn was way overpriced, and so was the Playstaion even though it was 100 bucks cheaper iirc. Newer systems like the PS3, while I still think they're way too expensive and I went through hell and high water to get a good deal on mine, I got a LOT more than I would with say a 32X.

I don't need another system to use it, it plays games from PS, PS2, and PS3, it's an upscaling DVD player, it's a Blu Ray Player, it can play those newfangled optical music discs, and I can play digital music and movie files on it. I also used to use Linux on it before Sony decided remove the Other OS feature, so basically I really felt like I got more bang for my buck when I got the PS3 than most other systems and I STILL feel like you're crazy as hell if you spent 499 USD or more on that thing

I want your collection dsheinem!

I say you're missing one though, the japan exclusive and crazy expensive Sangokushi IV! Unless you do have it and I can't see it in the picture. In which case sorry.

I'd like to complete my collection one day as well though. Shame some of the games are so expensive.

As to the main topic, I got my 32x as a christmas present back in the day, (after it had been discounted, for anyone who thinks I was spoiled, heh) and its been running strong ever since. I only ever picked up a handful of games for it, though like I said I want to complete the set one day. Its a very fun system, and I wish they'd put more into it at the time.

Also, its so cool to make the "Behemoth", with the Genesis, CD, and 32x all in one. Awesome classic game tech, makes me smile every time I look at it! :D

I have to say though, as someone who absolutely loves Doom, I recently found a copy of the 32x version and had to pick it up. Its... odd, heh.

Tempo rocks, by the way.

I do not have it or Darxide. I am content with a complete U.S. collection and 1 of 3 int'l exclusives.

Still, I'd love the other 2 if they were ever found for a reasonable price...

The auction ended, not sure if it sold or for how much. I offered him about 1/3 of his asking price. He didn't take it - he also had to keep lowering and relisting several times.

That's cool.:) I was teasing more than anything else. Its already an impressive collection!

I was poking around ebay earlier looking for prices on 32x games in general, and I found a copy of Sangokushi 4. The guy wants 220 bucks. Not as bad as Darxide would be (several hundred I've heard), but that still seems steep to me. Course, I don't know what the standard is for the game and I can't seem to find any info for it.

Here's a link if you're curious at all. At the very least, its in extremely good shape.

So what's your favorite of the bunch, if I may ask?

@dsheinem: Damn you! So jealous. I wish I still had the box to mine... :(

I remember getting mine at Toys R Us back in the day for around 50 bucks including like 3 free games. I've gotten so much use out of it. Let me go count how many games I have for it... 19 including Corpse Killer. Wait! Make that 20 including Fahrenheit!

Slowly working on my collection.

Knuckles Chaotix has been one of my favourite 32x games, along side Star Wars Arcade.

Oh here is a 32x Tech Demo to add to the Appreciation Thread theme... this is what the 32x was truly capable of:

I heard the guy who found that video found a VHS with that footage on it in a dumpster. It makes me sad to think that this awesome proof of 32x might might have been lost. But to the appreciation part.... I know alot of people hated the 32x version of Doom but that was the first exposer I had with that game and I still play it every now (even though its not that great, but it has character!) I love my big black / gray mushroom!

I like it too, odd as it is to me. I only wish the lighting were better. Sometimes the game is painfully dark, even in areas its not supposed to be. Makes it tough to play.
