Is it silly to keep system boxes when space is at a premium?

I keep boxes myself. Heck, I usually keep the plastic baggies and twist ties too. If you move again, having the original box helps protect stuff instead of having to stuff them in random boxes and maybe pad with towels or shirts or something. But yeah, another vote for getting them to someone else if you decide you need to get rid of them.

Well I'm seeing a DS, I think it is, up there, Noise, if that's your cup of tea. It's close enough, even though it's not Game Boy, but still, I'd jump on that and the Wii.

But yeah, I mostly collect boxes just for looks, I do like the feeling of having boxes instead of bulky consoles. It looks a bit more uniform and organized, to me anyway. It depends on how you set them up.

But I agree with giving them to someone else.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

I don't think you should. You will have your consoles connected so keeping the box is kind of redundant. They boxes are big and do not look very well in the shelf so I prefer not to keep them. I keep them for the games but not for systems.

I'd keep them if I were you. Clothes look better in a hamper anyways. :)

This is what I do, better than the alternative.

Can't you flatten the boxes?

No, it's not silly. Aside from whatever personal gratification you may or may not get from having the boxes, the boxes will bring a premium if you decide to sell your stuff down the road.

So as with all things, just run a basic cost-benefit calculus through your head. Weigh the cost of the space against personal satisfaction plus whatever premium you think you'll get.

Of course, you don't throw boxes away, you just don't buy boxed systems

If you ever plan on selling them I'd flatten them down and put them in a closet or something.

The only box I have is my PS3 box, everything else I've eventually gotten rid of over time. But I'm not a crazy about collecting like some people though, that's just me.
