What a horrible list!

Personally I think the first Halo should have replaced Reach and The Original Super Mario Bros. should have replaced Super Mario World. Call of Duty 4 definitely should have replaced Modern Warfare 2. Then Metal Gear Solid should have been somewhere along with Resident Evil 4 and perhaps also the original Resident Evil but it's optional. Silent Hill 1 or 2. Maybe Fallout 3 and Bioshock. GTA 3 probably. Basically I think a list like this shouldn't be like a "best games ever list" but a "games that made the most impact list." Either way I personally don't think the list was very well constructed.

whaaat? You crazy.
SMW is perfection of a genre.
MrEco wrote:Yes but Super Mario World didn't save video games from fading out completely. It didn't define what would later be known as the 2D platformer in it's purest form. It didn't come first. And it didn't do anything drastically new that the past games in it's series didn't already do (Example: Resident Evil 4 completely changed the way Resident Evil games played so despite being a sequel it is still worth mentioning as a "revolutionary" game).

but the article isn't the 12 Most Revolutionary Games. I'd agree with you there though. It's an article about 12 that should be experienced by everyone. In that case, I'd think choosing 12 "perfect" games, or games that provide an especially fulfilling experience is more important. Say Shadow Of The Colossus for instance. That's an experience.
