If you don't want to lose the texture, don't sand it. Simple as. Just prime it with a decent primer coat. Then apply a few coats of spray paint. Make sure you finish it off with a clear coat, this will stop the paint rubbing off.

You don't have to prime when using Krylon Fusion. Just gotta make sure you clean the surface extremely well before spraying it. And if you let it cure a full week or more, you really don't need any clear coats either.

Well, if you read my post above, that's exactly what I was talking about. I painted a Cube and a SNES, and left them both textured and non-glossy. Right, you don't sand it, but you have to make sure it's completely clean.

A green scrubby sponge will rough up the surface of plastic without taking a bunch of plastic off if you go at it enough. I used it on the 360 shell I painted and it seemed to work well. Might be worth a test on some random piece of plastic for someone.

When I sprayed my SNES, first I cleaned it thoroughly but then I actually did sand it very lightly. I used a very fine sanding sponge. I forget the grit number, but I know it was pretty high. I just very lightly sanded it, didn't press hard at all. Light enough as to not disturb the texture. I just didn't wanna say because it was pretty much unnecessary and if you do it to rough you'll mess up the texture.

Nice Guide, though your opening remarks are derogatory to the reader. I think most visiting these forums here are of high caliber.

Cleaning with water without drying maybe not good. Especially in my area which is hard water and leaves water spot deposits. Perhaps a quick blow off with a can of air?

Maybe also clean with alcohol before painting. Cleans off any dust and oils. After cleaning, don't touch the console with bare hands (fingerprint skin oil) before painting.
