I just have idea, what racketboy guys should do for the next article on how to setup "HD TV with retro gaming Consoles".
I'm thinking of getting Composite To S-Video Converters for the nes, yes the NES.
New Toshiba hdtv 40FT1U video?

PS1 emulation is 1.5 frames exactly of lag upscaled at 1080p before it even gets processed by your tv. Must be the tv causing even more.Niode wrote:Just one thing to note. PS1 on PS3 isn't lag free (not even close). It makes rhythm games almost unplayable. Parappa the Rapper is practically unplayable, me and my friend struggled for several hours to get through the game. We eventually managed to get through since we adjusted to the input lag but it was very difficult. I put the same game in my PSOne, cranked through the entire game in one go...
This will not increase signal quality I'm afraid. Your signal quality is only as good as the source. To make your NES look better you will have to mod it for RGB.benderx wrote:I just have idea, what racketboy guys should do for the next article on how to setup "HD TV with retro gaming Consoles".

This allows you to run imports if I remember correctly? But yeah DVDO edge works fine with 480p upscaled to 1080p. It is just the deinterlacing that sucks becaus it creates 50 ms of lag (3.5 frames) just by itself.
In any case, 240p and 480p through dvdo edge has around 21-25ms of lag (1.5 frames).
Ive also heard that some games dont like to behave correctly when forced to 480p
In any case, I just picked up a sony trinitron crt for 480i. I would be interested in freemcboot if it plays genuine imports. Does it?
Someone on here was offering this service, would be interested if it plays genuine imports.

I don't think you can improve the NES that way, still pulling from a composite source.benderx wrote:I just have idea, what racketboy guys should do for the next article on how to setup "HD TV with retro gaming Consoles".

You can get a couple extra switch boxes to support all the consoles.
Check out my CRT vs LCD signature link, may be of help to your suggestion.

Nope, as I said, I played it on my PSOne on the same TV without an issue...ChuChu Flamingo wrote:PS1 emulation is 1.5 frames exactly of lag upscaled at 1080p before it even gets processed by your tv. Not every game works well forced into 480p, but some games, like Gradius V and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, for example, look absolutely stunning. And progressive games run 2 frames faster. FreeMcBoot will run patched copies of games from any region, so you can finally play cave shooters or track down a DVD5 rip of Siren 2 (provided your TV accepts a PAL signal).

Okay I'll look into everything that everybody mentioned and that vs. LCD topic. thank you everyone.
I did like Reacketboy's post for doing how to burn retro games, because I forget from time to time.

Re: New Toshiba hdtv 40FT1U video?
Here's what I would do on a budget:
Dreamcast: Racketboy VGA box
PS1: Use the PS3
PS2, Wii: Run component into the HD Box Pro (component to VGA) upscaler. About $60 shipped from Hong Kong. http://www.hdboxpro.com/eng/shop.htm
NES, Genesis, N64: s-video and composite to VGA converter. Use s-video for the N64, composite for the NES, Genesis. Around $70. I'd mod my will if I was you and use homebrew emulators for the NES and Genesis. It'll look way better.
HOWEVER
The Genesis can do RGB (RGB is like component but better) and so can some N64's http://forums.modretro.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1417
The N64 mod is fairly easy http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/rgbn64.htm
So, you get RGB scart cables for each of them off ebay and run those into a scart to component adapter like the CSY-2100 http://www.cypconverters.com.au/video-p ... -2100.html and run that into your HD Box Pro
Use a modded Wii for NES games. You don't want to go near the NES RGB mod, trust me. You'll probably need a few switch boxes as well.

What type of connection you using with PS1? PS1 games are usually 240p, which would explain why it would be faster.Niode wrote:Nope, as I said, I played it on my PSOne on the same TV without an issue...ChuChu Flamingo wrote:PS1 emulation is 1.5 frames exactly of lag upscaled at 1080p before it even gets processed by your tv. I'm so pist off that Toshiba did not include s-video. There little component usage for my tv. I thought I had s video in back of my tv. My direct tv box has s video behind but not my tv. i take picture later today.
