Re: Genesis Possible Loose Video Connection
I figured that since it may be difficult for the signal to register. The same thing occurs on consoles such as the Atari 7800 since the signals are relatively weak.
Edit: It's cool. I do highly recommend component though especially for newer TVs since they can be trickier with older consoles through RF. A good solid YUV connection ought to do the trick. If I may throw in another suggestion, try the AV cables on another TV, preferably a CRT to help decipher what the problem may be.

Yeah what's weird is I've never noticed it anywhere but my TV..but the thing is the TV is perfectly fine with all my other consoles.

Is the Genesis the oldest console you have hooked up to it? That may be why but if there is an older console that happens to work then this is a strange problem indeed.
I assume you have a model 2 since they are most common? Here's where I got my scart cable (same seller I bought it off of): http://cgi.ebay.com/Sega-Genesis-2-II-3 ... 255e36eb44

Model 1
Tis in my signature haha. Seriously thanks for the input but that really doesn't tell me if I have a loose connection in my Gen or not.

Dreamcast has a higher resolution, perhaps your LCD doesn't like the lower res of the Genesis.

Re: Genesis Possible Loose Video Connection
It could be. My Genesis REALLY didn't like my TV tuner at all that I was using on my HP. It was displaying in black and white xD Well sort of. It looked like it was TRYING to do color but just couldn't. I'm actually thinking about investing in a model 3 eventually and just using my model 1 for my Sega CD stuff. The Sega CD also has the flickering problem obviously but meh o_o and I don't want a model 2.

You are aware that the Genesis 3 lacks the awesomeness that is stereo sound right? You'd have to do a mod (though it's simple) in order to get stereo sound out of a Genesis 3 unless you don't mind mono.

Yeah I know. I'm aware of what I'm getting and I don't mind. If I'm feeling like stereo I'll simply use the model 1 that day.

Ah, ok. Just checking. You're also right on steering away on the model 2s. You'll never know what you'll end up getting whether it may have a bad video encoder or the infamous horrible sound distortion.

Yeah from what I've seen the Model 3 just seems to be built more sturdy too..plus they're all cool and tiny and convenient
