Look, I am a big critic of the military in many ways. I disagree with much of our current war on terror, though I realize that because we are involved in them we need to now see it through to some kind of end. I think Vietnam was a mistake. Sometimes you have to put a rabid dog down, lest he attack your family.

Even if that does nothing for you, you can't deny the contributions of our veterans to everything from infrastructure to medical to technological development - including those video games you like to play (and usually not pay for) and the internet you like to come make an ass of yourself on.

Nullface, I should probably come out and say that I don't particularly care for you much and find your presence on the forums to be abrasive. You stiffed someone on a charity auction (viewtopic.php?f=22&t=10752&start=2440), you posts are often inflammatory and rarely contribute much, you openly embrace the kind of piracy which many of us object to, and here you have the gall to refer to veteran's service - whether in war or not - as "murder." I realize you are 18 and perhaps struggling with what it means to become a man, to form an adult opinion, and to engage in rational debate. I think you will find that many of our veterans have already learned these traits and could teach them to you - perhaps you should sign up!

A good program, I heard some restaurants are doing this, honor your Grandfather. There have been highs and lows of honoring veterans, right now I think most think highly of the Military, Police and Firemen. Don't blame the soldier on the battles, its the politician who decides what lines to cross. Any warrior always wants peace over war, "Peace is our Profession." My Dad and myself are both retired Navy veterans and my brother served in the AirForce.

Well said; and that certainly was a dick-move on the chairty auction on Nullface's part.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for those in our armed services. My grandfather who passed away this year served as a Fleet Doctor for the Navy in WWII while my other who died before I was born was a Lieutenant in charge of a 115mm Howitzer in the Third Army.

As for talk of murderers, that stops now. Any more posts like that will result in a warning.

Wild times for sure. I drank a ton of beer in those days and traveled a heck of alot (in that order). I really miss the rail over there. You can cover so much ground so fast and so very cheap.

I don't believe in war at all. Still you have to have some gratitude for the people who signed up to protect the freedoms we enjoy. It isn't their fault if they are ordered to do something questionable and I highly doubt they are ever more aware of the actual intentions of the government than we are. The fact is that without the brave men and women risking their lives for us we would be the ones staring down the barrel of a gun. The pompous and arrogant attitude that you are afforded as an American is an illusion of your own strength because without the strength of our military the many people in this world who hate us would surely take a shot.

There are bad soldiers just the same as there are bad civilians but it is just wrong to belittle the contributions and sacrifices made by the good ones. I doubt that anyone wants to face the brutalities of war and for those that do so I am grateful. After all, without them it could be you that was drafted next.

Today isn't about war or politicians and their questionable ethics it is only about honoring the real people just like you and me who actually lay down their lives for us. The day we are invaded by a foreign country and they are standing at your door ready to kill you and your family you will be singing a different tune about our veterans. That isn't likely to happen though since they are currently protecting you from such threats all the while you don't want to honor them.

The charity auction. I explained that I didn't want to bid $10 in the thread (I didn't have that much in my Paypal) and he disregarded it. I even sent him a PM about it and he ignored me then sent me an invoice the next day. So no I'm not going to pay him.
