I think in the later Rainbow Six titles you can view lower limbs and even entire body in cover mode. SWAT 4 might have offered this well, but I'm not sure. My opinion has always been that FPS has stagnated, HL2 offered a breath of fresh air with its gizmos and physics trickery but it's all bog-standard now. The next big step has to involve separating head from arm orientations, but I'm not sure the standard dual axis control is going to suffice for such a task.
Are there any FPSs in which you aren't a floating head?

Seriously, with the right tech and periperhal that game could have been awesome. Look it up if you feel like it, it was the first game to offer separate control of the arms.

Hitman games have a first person view mode as well in which you can see your feet. Don't know if that counts
Re: Are there any FPSs in which you aren't a floating head?
Just switch over to 3rd person shooters. it'll releive the problem.

Because Zeno Clash is a first person beatemup, you can see your arms when you are punching and legs when you are kneeing someone in the face. I don't remember if you can look down and see them though.

You can in Crysis.
I dont think its really needed to be there in FPS, I mean it doesnt really break the experience in any way.

I agree with this, though I do like it in games where I can see my character model in the mirror.emwearz wrote:You can in Crysis.

The Darkness is the only FPS that I've played that has believable weight and an actual body attached to the camera. I share the sentiments as OP when comes to the floaty-head syndrome in most FPS.

Project Eden can be played entirely in first person and the camera appears to be mounted to the actual character model and the limbs are not just remodeled for the first person view.
