Japan and Russia on the road to War --> Russo-Japanese War 2
Re: Japan and Russia on the road to War --> Russo-Japanese War 2
I'm glad for this thread because I never knew that Japan and Russia were ever at war (Excluding WWII) and it's always nice to learn interesting bits of history like that.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

The reason for them doing so will change depending on who you talk to. It's just like the whole Pearl Harbor thing. The sad part is, neither are taught in Japanese public schools. PH gets a brief mention, just a sentence.

Hey awesome dude, i read alot of news too, and i am aware of the condition that Japan and china is in right now. And glad to see that you keep up with japanese news. For me i was not born the US so for me i love to read up on current affairs of the world and specially Asia. Not to mention im also a history buff. I dont like to accept in that War just a war that happen but rather go into research and why out the reason of why and how.
Trust me man, it'll be forgotten in a week. It's good to see people caring enough, but just don't jump to conclusions. I don't mean to have this attitude, but it's just I read about this at least 2 to 3 times a month on japantimes.com for the past 10 years. It's a non-issue.
The conflict between Japan and China right now is a bigger issue. People are rioting in the streets of China with anti-Japanese protests and both governments are bumping chests.
Post about that!

What is really interesting is the whole Khmer Rouge regime. You don't hear much about it anymore and to hear what people from Cambodia have to say about it is even better.

Man....that is a very dark history for the Chinese people actually. It's very hard to literally explain in few sentence but I think this war is where China start to go downhill and where Japan use this as an advantage over the China weak government during that time.CRTGAMER wrote:I do find this thread interesting. I agree that this is an interesting thread no matter what the history or future is. I have been reading about this a lot lately too and, although I agree that the two nations are no more likely to go to war than they have during these similar past incidents, it is still interesting to read. Good post! I would rather read about activity going on in the world rather than nothing - I mean if we are not talking about video games at least.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned all the problems with N. Korea in the region. Hasn't there been a bunch of controversies like kidnapping Japanese citizens and missile testings?
Re: Japan and Russia on the road to War --> Russo-Japanese War 2
There has been a lot of tension between the US and NK over their testing of new missiles that could carry nuclear warheads further distances. Especially since NK was in talks with other nations about dismantling their nuclear weapons program in exchange for aid. This is another issue that has been ongoing for a few years. Talks resume, NK does this, the US responds with harsh words, and NK threatens a response so severe that the world will shake. Tensions are always high between SK and NK as well. Things will be okay for a while, both governments will work together to reunite families for a day. Some hiker will accidentally cross into NK and tempers will flare.Mr.White555 wrote:I'm surprised no one has mentioned all the problems with N. Korea in the region. It was a little worse this time because a SK submarine was sunk killing a bunch of people. Supposedly there have been a bunch of tests proving it was NK. NK contests this and as far as I know these tests haven't been shown to anyone so that the decision can be made of who was at fault and what should be done about it. The US and SK responded to this incident by having a test drill of the SK navy or something, which is an obvious show of muscle. This annoyed NK who has been more hostile towards any transgressions by SK. I think the latest is that boarder guards have been exchanging fire, both saying the other fired first.
I think Japan and China have had a similar thing lately with some Chinese boat crossing into Japanese waters. The boat was detained and later released, but China is pissed.
