Wow, came back from dinner and had all kinds of advice! Thanks!
Well laptop is definitely output only. So my only option would be to use a video capture device to use the laptop. I have 4gigs of memory and a 2.2ghz processor. With a video capture device I definitely worry about lag. It might be worth trying out, since the price isn't high for one at all. Thank you slowslow325 for the link!
@lisalover1: First, I was on your blog yesterday for at least an hour. It is gold! Great work. Keep it up please. To your post, I think I am going to try a video capture device first, just to see. Also do you have any info on one of these good portable screens. I've heard these rumors elsewhere as well. Would love to find a good one.
@noiserdux: I was hoping to get some insight from you. I'm going to get a VGA adapter as well. Wouldn't hurt to go ahead and get the monitor up here. I've just got a feeling the video capture won't be satisfactory. You can vouch for that VGA converter though? Just read an update as I was typing this. So that VGA doesn't support the component? How exactly does the converter work? Do I plug my composite or s-video into the converter and it runs out a vga plug?
Everyone thanks for the advice.

nope, it's made specifically for GCN. So one end plugs into yr GCN output, and one into yr VGA monitor. Then it has a spot to plug yr PC's VGA into it, so you can switch between PC or GCN on the same monitor.l0whit07 wrote:

I also found it at Amazon, EBay with free shipping has my money already. The two reviews at Amazon sounded pretty negative. The second dumb reviewer tried to use it with a PS2.
Got a good review here from 2007.

At thirty bucks, still worth a try, optimistic of better results on a CRT VGA monitor. Also like the idea of that bypass, so the Dreamcast VGA output and N64/Cube can share the same amplified speakers. My VGA 4 way switch only controls the video. Even if N64 Conker is a little blurry, a great distraction between postings!
Noise, is your LCD at your blog site using the Innovation adaptor? It actually looks good, filling that wide screen. Chu Chu Rocket with GB Player? Can you post an enlarged picture here?
A curiosity, it states to work with a SNES and N64 because obvious its the same audio-video plug. But draws power from the Gamecube memory slot?

Yes that picture (and all pictures of my setup on my blog) are of the VGA Adapter in action. I can say that it did look a bit better on my old CRT monitor, since there was no stretching of the screen width. HOWEVER, I'm not SUPER picky so I got used to the stretch. Plus you could always just adjust the monitor anyway.CRTGAMER wrote:

It DOES work with N64 and SNES. It does NOT draw power from a memory slot. Not sure where that came from. It does use phantom power from the Cube, but it's just one plug into the A/V port.
Re: HELP Please! I need to hook my Gamecube up!!
Good to read that, thanks! The Amazon site in the description, stated the memory slot for power. A mistake of wording, probably meant the video out connection.

Thank you very much for the compliment! This thread gave me an idea to write a post about Gamecube Audio/Visual setups. I posted it, so if you are still confused, give it a look.l0whit07 wrote:Wow, came back from dinner and had all kinds of advice! Thanks!

Re: HELP Please! I need to hook my Gamecube up!!
Received the Innovation VGA Box. Works fine with my Gamecube, as expected not a 480p signal. Pic is not bad, a 480i S-Video video quality. The big plus is now I can play N64 Conker on my VGA monitor! Easiest the best economical way to pull the highest SNES and N64 signal available to the computer monitor. A nice bonus as a switchbox for the Dreamcast VGA Box.
I did a full review at my CRT vs LCD signature link, scroll ⅔ down of the OP.

Thanks noise for the link and lisa for the GC video input review!
