Guys, this is why I don't buy PC games, and why PC gaming overall is narrowing down to just FPS and RTS games, and I hate RTS. :(
I have to say it ain't just the ports that don't excite me anymore, for years I didnt even have one console, and considered myself strictly a PC Gamer, but it seems that in recent times, its just all the same crap, and nothing interesting ever seems to come out anymore, its just non stop medieval themed RPG/RTS (or wotever u call those type of games), and World War II FPS's. I will always buy whatever id software's main release is, and I thought Half Life 2 was good, but apart from them, the only thing I use my PC for is flight sims and emulators.

Bioshock is about the only thing Im looking forward too atm, or maybe that Alan Wake game.

Personally, In my opinion, I am not bashing PC gaming whats so ever, but I just think PC games are just currently in decline, sure unlike the consoles that you can upgrade to the latest hardware for your PC or something. I left the PC scene long ago because the most of the games won't run for shit on my old PC. The last decent PC game I've ever played was Half Life. I never really have enough money to upgrade my PC and also my PC runs too freaken slow that I just could not take it anymore, So I pretty much left PC scene and switch to a Mac, sure there aren't any Mac exclusives but I do really care about Computer games in general anymore. I really just use my computer to do my Photoshop work, Emulations, and browsing the internet.

Ah flightsims, one of the few genres that consoles will never get right. X-Plane 8 and I are good friends.

Looks like Spider-Man 3 won't be very stable on consoles either:

yeh it is in decline, although there is a slight rise atm due to Bill's heavy 'Games For Windows/DirectX 10/Force us to buy VIsta' push...

yeh I pretty much just use it for those 3 things u listed too, I remember in Quake 2 to Quake 3 era, I HAD to have úber hardware etc., but nowadays I dont really mind that much I kinda buy midrange gfx cards (although having said that if a 'full on' new id game came out (i.e. with a new engine and developed inhouse (like a DooM 4 or Quake 5), I would undoubtedly get a new fast machine) - but until then, Ill just play my flight sims, although Lock On Modern Air Combat will never be satisfied with a machines hardware lol.

yeh Ive always nearly bought X-Plane, but have never gotten round to doing it, I always play the demos and love them, and the idea of landing the shuttle is pretty cool IMO, - its an 8 DVD package or something nowadays isnt it - cos of all the world textures?

Yep 8 dvds - 60 gig install. And that is before you start to add in the fan planes. I just wish I could find a free Spitfire MKII...

I swear they must be getting money on the side to ignore these problems. There's no way they have magical machines when the rest of us consumers always have poor machines. If reviewers would learn to be honest, I would know which games to steer clear of, and then I could resume purchasing the right ones.
I have to take this back. Both IGN and GameSpot have reviewed Spiderman 3 on PC and absolutely SLAMMED it for technical issues. Bravo for honesty.

Resident Evil 4 finally came out for PC in the USA. Reason for the crazy delay? Initial hands-on reports say...no reason at all. It is supposedly virtually identicle to the Europe version, except with the first patch pre-applied. Can any of you follow that logic? I can imagine the UbiSoft guys planning this one out.

"Ok, so we got this game out in the UK. Apparently it's some popular game or something. I heard it sold well on the consoles. I wonder how we could make money off of it in the USA..."

"Oh how about this! We assign Bob in Accounting to it. Give him $100 bucks and no deadline. Maybe in many months we can ship a game that no one will want to buy anymore. Brilliant!"

The funniest part was, despite being delayed about 9 times over that period, it just had to get one final delay right on the 15th, it's launch day. So when the few fans went to their game stores to buy it on the 15th, they were told that the stores had no idea when the game was actually coming, and some even said it was delayed until June. Then, reluctantly, the game arrives on the 17th in Solid Snake fashion, almost as if it was on a mission to completely evade all possible sales.

Gamespot just reviewed Resident Evil 4 on PC, and just like with Spiderman 3, didn't neglect to mention the major flaws. Very nice.
