I think there should be massively multiplayer online sports games. They just need to figure out some way to integrate recruiting, team selecting, and coaching into it. Sports are about teamwork, so I don't know why nobody seems to have thought of this yet. You could even have different leagues that you can get into based on player stats, and spectator arenas where people can watch the games online like that feature that OnLive has.

Actually, an internet search shows that I'm not the first person with that idea...
Here is a free MMO football (soccer) game:

That sounds epically cool. If anyone else wants to do this, I'm down with getting a Racketboy team.J T wrote:Actually, an internet search shows that I'm not the first person with that idea...

I am not a sports guy, but since I just had an idea for a game and found out a free version already exists, it's at least worth a shot. I'll start a new thread about it in the PC section so others can join up.

The future of sports games: Taking up all the shelf space at secondhand game stores.
If for that reason alone, I could totally get behind any decision on EA's part to go subscription-based with their sports games.

I wouldn't mind if there were roster updates automatically, and players that retire get put in a separate team. Maybe some classic teams too. Maybe you could put your older sports games in the console and upload those teams into the new game, which would be awesome, at least if it was disc based. Cart based I don't see it.
It would make me buy sports games more often, that's for sure. Maybe better custom team management.

Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)
Re: The Future of sports games?
I would like to see sports games come out every 3 years with downloadable roster updates. I think it would improve the quailty of the games.
