...I always play my PSX games on my PSone.

It hadn't occurred to me that Japanese PSX Gundam games are now open to me. This could get expensive.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Bah, PS1 games on the actual PS1 are ok if it's your only option, but playing PS1 games via Component cables and Digital optical audio on the PS2 is incredible.

Practically none of my PS1 games are component compatible - just too many 2D sprite based games. It's a real annoyance.

Huh? :|

Every PS1 game is component capable when played via the PS2, it's how the system works.

Really? I constantly get messages to the contrary. I just popped Megaman X4 (the reason I own a PSX) in and got the same.

Every game I have ever tried has worked on my PS2 but I have heard others say it doesn't. I think it has to do with if your TV can change resolutions, it has to be able to support 240p. I take it your HDTV/SDTV is a CRT like mine

Yeah, CRT all the way for me.

I know for a fact MegaMan X-4 works I've played it often enough in component on the living room TV to know that. It also works fine via S-Video too which is how my newer Trinitron maxes out on inputs.

Might just be a TV problem then. It's probably more likely than me having some random copy of the game that, alone out of all copies pressed, doesn't work.
