I use RFGeneration. I would use Backloggery, but I'm more of a collector and there's a lot of games I never even intend on beating.
RFGeneration's database is REALLY extensive. Like color cartridge variants, and even number of screw holes on the back of the cartridge. Plus all the label variants, including variants of the Seal of Quality emblem.
They also provide PDF downloads of checklists. I'm using one to help me keep track of my N64 games since I'm striving for every one (slowly!).
Plus, they have other features and a community.

Yeah, both these sites are great and I also use IGN as well since I like seeing cover art of my gaming collection.Ack wrote:Backloggery.com is for if you want to track how many games you've beaten or completed.
RFGeneration.com is really for if you want to track the completeness of your collection, including boxes and manuals. I like and use both.

Backloggery as far as I can tell doesn't have a database of games that you can search and add games to your own list. You have to type in the title for every game and select the console. I started using it just to have a record of all the obscure games I could remember playing as a kid but for me it doesn't matter whether I beat it or not and most of the games I no longer own. I see that rfgeneration and playfire have actual searchable databases of games with dedicated pages for games that you can add to your collection which I would've used instead had I known of either one.

Re: Websites to Keep Track of Your Gaming?
Thanks guys! I have an account on Playfire but I just can't get into it. I don't like the interface and site design very much, I'm looking for something a bit more basic. I really want to use something like this more for keeping track of game completion rather than game collection but both at the same time would be fantastic. So I may check out RFGeneration until Backloggery is open for registrations. Anyway, thanks again.

I actually like how you just type in the titles on Backloggery. The first site I tried had a searchable database and I find that I can type out titles as fast or faster than going through a database search.shadobeni wrote:Backloggery as far as I can tell doesn't have a database of games that you can search and add games to your own list. I completely agree, I don't like searching for a game and then looking through the results and clicking "add to collection" on the one you have when I can just type it out.MrPopo wrote:I actually like how you just type in the titles on Backloggery. For those just interested in collecting:
It's not a website but I created a NES collector app for the iPhone. Very useful for on the go (also allows you to export your data).
Here's the YouTube demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQkNyRd8ZtY (newer version is available with even more features and content)

Re: Websites to Keep Track of Your Gaming?
Bringing an old thread back to the top...
I'm looking for a similar site or piece of software, but I'd like something that would allow me to take notes as I play, for future reference.... playfire and rfgeneration seem nice for simply listing out your collection, but don't seem to be as hospitable for referencing and updating personal notes (as opposed to just reviews). Delicious Library (software) seems like a decent choice, but I can't update it online, which means I'd have to have my laptop handy for note taking.
Any suggestions?

Backloggery lets you add comments to the entries, as well as status, achivement count, and any game-specific online info (like the Wii friend codes).

Yeah, from what what I've read, looks like Backloggery is exactly what I'm looking for. Now to wait for account registration to reopen. :]MrPopo wrote:Backloggery lets you add comments to the entries, as well as status, achivement count, and any game-specific online info (like the Wii friend codes).
