I gots a lot of nostalgia for the original GB one and never played any game in the series past Crystal.

Good for you, i played ruby and didnt get into it at all. Pokemon R/B/Y and G/S/C are the only good ones i guess i just love the classics

I also think that they should have hacked the original, to make it more genuine. All the bright colors in the GBA remake will make the game a bit more upbeat than it should be. Also, the original GB graphics have a somewhat, well, I don't know how to put it... "mystifying" quality to them that I think would benefit the feel of the game, where the player is meant to fill in as many blanks as they can by themselves. Nothing is scarier than what you can come up with in your own mind.

I think they are using FireRed because of the extra space needed for the added creepy stuff in the rumor. Perhaps they could alter the graphics to look like Red version and make the music 8-bit. Don't know how much time it would take but looking at the editors they have for hacking pokemon I may give it a try.

That was my thought as well. I'm not that familiar with the size limitations on carts or roms but the GBA has got to give the hackers more leeway.
