China is fine. Just look for the silver SLS sticker on the back. You can see it clearly in this picture.
I took a look and these auctions are confusing though. They claim to be genuine, and they show the SEGA logo on the pad, but they don't show the sticker on the back. Then in the images they compare a counterfeit white pad, next to a genuine grey pad. The white pad has no SEGA logo, and no SLS sticker.
Given the SEGA logo on the white pad, I think these are genuine. The box looks exactly the same as the genuine black SEGA pad I bought. You can find other auctions selling repro pads, and the box is different and there's no SEGA logo.

That's really weird. As far as I knew, the white ones were out of print. I bought two gray ones from the seller I mentioned, and they are 100% authentic, so I'd recommend going with the seller I did and avoiding the added risk.
Besides, if you have any existing Japanese Saturn controllers, you can actually take both an original apart and a USB Saturn pad apart and swap their shells - a USB pad and its buttons will fit perfectly well inside a real Saturn controller shell. The parts are completely interchangeable, another sign that these are authentic products.
Check out my video for more info on the Saturn pads. I really, really like them.

This is not true, these are cheaply made in comparison to the originals and I know a lot of people that had the very same issue I had with mine - the rubber underneath the d-pad breaking off, rendering direction(s) useless as no contact is made with the board.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:I recommend buying a brand new Saturn USB controller. Sega has been making them new, and they're every bit as good as the original Saturn controllers. Although they're sold out of Hong Kong, I cannot stress this enough, they are authentic Sega made controllers.
I don't recommend buying these, to the OP, try to find an original controller and a converter.

Those are the Non-SLS ones that people have said in this thread repeatedly to stay away from. Though you can't find them anymore now so it doesn't really matter.Lodestar wrote:This is not true, these are cheaply made in comparison to the originals and I know a lot of people that had the very same issue I had with mine - the rubber underneath the d-pad breaking off, rendering direction(s) useless as no contact is made with the board.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:I recommend buying a brand new Saturn USB controller.
