HOLY CRAP DQ9 IS AWESOME!!!

It is a great game, I beat it last summer. I may pick up the English version to see if there are any differences.

One difference I'm aware of is that you can no longer expand your Inn by having the same friend get tagged and be kicked out, which is a problem for the US players who aren't in high density areas.

I like only Dragon Quest V & VII
there are such good ideas in that games

I have about 9 or 10 hours into the game and I have been having some problems. I feel that I have been progressing fairly well until I ran into a boss fight where I just had my rear end handed to me in a sack. I had no clue what I was doing wrong until I realized that by this time in the game, I should actually have a party with me instead of going solo. So, now I have added 3 people to my party, but of course I will have to wander around for a while in order to level them up. The way the game distributes the experience points is rather strange in my opinion.

Guys, I want to ask a serious question:

I've been trying to go back and play The Best Games of All Time. However, there's so much hype around DQ9 that I want to play it.

So, is it good enough to be one of the Best, or would my time be better spent on a GBA port of an SNES hit?

Keep in mind that I'm getting old, what with the wife, kid, and job, so the ability to shut the lid and hop back into the real world is a big plus for me.

Well if your looking for a Dragon Quest game to suck you in, I would go for Pt VIII first.
