Does anyone know if Retrozone's NES PowerPak will work on an A/V Famicom? More importantly what are you using for an AC adapter to work with the power standard over here in the USA? My understanding is that brand new factory sealed A/V Famicoms did not contain the power adapter or A/V cables in the box for that matter.

A bug in your ear. I imagine a toaster could be modded as a direct front plug in to work as a top loader. Anyone hear of this? Maybe might go that route with Rob I aquired a little while ago. Hmmmm.

Re: Getting my NES to run is a massive pain
I was always having blinking light issues with my "toaster" NES before I got a new 72-pin. I cleaned my games and for the most part they will work right off the bat. Games that I owned and took care of work the first time. Games I bought used or that weren't treated so great usually take a bit of trial and error to get them working correctly; sometimes they boot up but the graphics/text are somewhat messed up (just try a few more times to get it good).
Re: Getting my NES to run is a massive pain
It could be a faulty 10NES chip. You might try disabling it before spending money on a top loader. It's a fairly easy mod.

Re: Getting my NES to run is a massive pain
It definitely could be a problem elsewhere. Dirt in the system could cause problems. The NES10 chip could surely be the culprit.
A friend of mine replaced his 72 connector a few months ago and it still gave him the blinking screen. He couldn't figure it out until he reopened the NES and discovered that somehow the circuit board became cracked near the connection with the 72-pin connector. Must have done it when he replaced the connector.

YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD. GAME OVER.

The thing is that the blue screen isn't really my problem, it's mostly just garbled graphics, which is why I believe it's something with the connector.

The AV Famicom is just a standard NES without the 10NES lockout chip (Just like the regular AV Fami) exactly like the US model two.oldschoolnesgamer wrote:Does anyone know if Retrozone's NES PowerPak will work on an A/V Famicom? AS for the AC you can just use an American NES AC Adaptor and any Nintendo AV cable for the SNES, N64 and Gamecube with it.

Where can you pick up a converter for the AV Famicom? I did a cursory Google/Ebay search to no apparent avail.

Um, the sound chip only creates mono sound. So unless certain games with special chips like Lagrange Point output stereo from the cart itself, it's still mono.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:I ended up saving up the cash and picking up an AV Famicom and Absolutely love it. Not only does it have AV Cables AND output in true stereo (AKA not dual mono) natively

Do you have a security bit to open the carts up and really clean the games good?
