Also, quite honestly I think pspupdates.qj.net is one of the biggest psp homebrew type communities online, so check that out. Especially the forum with all the guides!
Ok I JUST Got A PSP - Before I Touch It.................
My apology with a 3.0+ firmware you do need GTA. To answer your question, yes, the initial release (1st release) of GTA:LCS is different from the new UMD. Locate a used (initial release) one from Gamespot or EBGames. Even cheaper is a local pickup try www.craigslist.com (with a parent if you are underage, ok)

THe one you want has the '18' rating circle on the SIDE of the boxDCAllAmerican wrote:When it says Unpatched Version of GTA Liberty City; does that mean there were 2 copies of the game that came out or something?
Can you explain that to me?
I know because Im an idiot - my mother got me an original (firmware 1.00) PSP in Japan the week it came out
I forgot about it for a while and then eventually tried to crack it but made a mess of it and eventually ended up with offical 3.02 - forums at the time were saying dcrap like 'well itll be at least a year now before its cracked' lol
3 weeks later and the LCS exploit was found
I managed to buy one secondhand and Im now happily running 3.03 OE B - btw there is a 3.10 cracked one now I think
Its amazing - with the new popstations, ISO's can be reduced in size a fair bit - a 2GB memory stick can pretty easily hold 6 PSX games... (or so someone told me

Make sure you have OE-A', also known as A2. OE-A had a bug that caused some games to error out.DCAllAmerican wrote:Ok I am now running on 3.10 OE-A
What do I do now?
You can now put homebrew, such as emulators, in the \GAME150 folder. You can also put commercial games in ISO format in \ISO. Then when you go to run a game from the memory card programs in both directories magically appear.
mmm old quote, oh well,DCAllAmerican wrote:Ok I know how to upgrade and downgrade firmwares now. So I am good with that step.
Can I play MAME (arcade) games on here?
Im not sure what the hardware is on the PSP, but if its anythign lower than the old xbox, I dont think it will run well. Mame tends to crash mine on certain games.
MAME is hard to pin down. It depends on what you want to play. NeoGeo? Yes. Pacman? Yes. Tekken? No. Area 51? Probably not. As long as I can play Magical Drop at speed, that's all the MAME I personally need.Luna wrote:mmm old quote, oh well,DCAllAmerican wrote:Ok I know how to upgrade and downgrade firmwares now.
