heard great things about ratchet & clank, definitely one I'll look into. Right now it's looking like Valkyria chronicles, disgaea 3 and ratchet & Clank might be my best options. I would like to get ffXIII, but I think I'll wait for VS to roll around. Demon's soul and infamous are two others I'm going to keep in mind.

Here are some of my favourites.

Post In (you play an awol postman hell bent on getting revenge for being sacked for posting a turd through somebody's letter box, he deserved it. Said to be a spiritual successor to Postal but without Gary Coleman)
The Correct (A strange Japanese education title for learning English, most of the enjoyment comes from the engrish though)
Forum (a school debating game where you argue your view to earn points, the person who turns the most people to his view gets a democracy bonus. Has sandbox elements where you can form relationships and use your friends to skew the results in the classroom. Think Bully meets debate class.)

Retail:
Demon's Souls - It's the best game on the PS3.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - It was the reason I bought a PS3.
Valkyria Chronicles - It has given the Strategy RPG genre a new feel... that I hope future SRPGs try to emulate.
Uncharted 2 - Nothing really new or all too spectacular... it's just fun. Lots of fun.
LittleBigPlanet - Only if you really like platformers.
ModNation Racers - Only if you like kart racers; personally, this game has already stuck around for me much longer than LBP did. I mean, I've pretty much been playing this and nothing else since it came out.
Katamari Forever - Personally, I haven't really played a Katamari game since the original. As such, this was great and a ton of fun - however, I've heard those that never left the series found it to be nothing special.
Super Street Fighter IV - If you like fighting games, this is kinda a no brainer.

Digital Downloads:
PixelJunk Monsters - A light-hearted Tower Defense game. It's a great deal of fun.
PixelJunk Eden - A very strange platformer... hard to describe, ya just gotta be there.
PixelJunk Shooter - A shmup (kinda...) that plays more like an exploration game.
Flower - Not a very challenging game, but it's another one of those things ya just have to experience.
Burn Zombie Burn - A twin-stick shooter. When I want to play something, but can't commit to anything, I'll play a few rounds of this.
Joe Danger - Haven't played this yet, but the reviews have been extremely good. I definitely need to check it out eventually.

PS3 is great, but I'm really tired. Sooooo, I'm gonna hit the highlights and not bother with complete sentences at the moment.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Tranq. guns, (solid)eye patch, amazing boss battles, best game on PS3.

Yakuza 3 - action and adventure in Japan + face stomping...literally.

3D Dot Game Heroes - fun, humor, massive swords. (Though that isn't nearly bold enough to effectively communicate how large massive really is.)

Demon's Souls - Think of this game as a girlfriend. It's irritating, demanding, sometimes downright painful, and yet somehow you learn to love it.

weasels wrote:but one game that wasn't mentioned so far: MGS4. i love the game to death personally. but this is coming from a fan of metal gear solid.
That's funny that you should say that; I remember in the early days when the ONLY game the system had going for it was MGS4! It was PS3 owners' only tangible reason to brag.

Anyway, most of the good Disc games have been mentioned, so let's move on to PSN.

Fat Princess is an extremely fun and addictive team-based action game. It's essentially capture the flag in most modes, but instead of a flag, you have to capture a princess. You can also feed your princess cake, so it will be more difficult for the enemy to take her. It's a total blast to play online, and there's plenty of maps to keep you interested for a long time. It's currently my most-played game on the PS3, and I highly recommend it.

Flower is a sublime game, artfully composed, and is just an all-around beautiful experience to behold. I even feel bad calling it a game, since that would weigh it down with too many preconceived notions and would sully the masterpiece. In the game, you play as a single flower petal in a field of flower buds. In the game, you use the Sixaxis/DS3 controller's motion controls to move the petal around, and as you touch other flower buds, you make them blossom, and the goal is to make the whole level blossom. There are also several hidden secrets in the game that you can find for trophies, and the later ones can get quite difficult. All in all, Flower is a spectacular piece of electronic art that should not be missed.

firstly i would buy games online from either play or amazon , you can get brand new games well cheap and free delivery if you go for a super saver delivery on amazon , it takes longer but not that long (up to a week). i only have a few ps3 games but one of my favorites is ghostbusters, if your a ghostbusters fan trust me you'll love this. my second favorite is actually stunt man ignition. not one of the most talked about games but its awesom. you basicly take the role of a stunt man and have to hit all sorts of different stunts in all sorts of films and enviroments ranging from easy stuff like 180s to 2 wheeling. even if you dont like driving games (which i dont) its well good fun and handles and plays great. i hope this helps
