The game itself will be running 17% slower than its NTSC counterpart, unless it is PAL optimized which I have never seen a MD game be (Even the Sonic series run slow). Making the game quite a bit easier.

Of course, you're right. Still not an easy game by any means. Those damn trilobites! *shakes fist*

Still, if you get the death sonar power up, it becomes a fair amount easier.

I have that one. Maybe I'll give it another shot this month. All I keep hearing is that the game's nearly impossible. What do you think of the port so far? I've played the GBA port to about level three (I think), but have never played the original.

Hi, this is my first posting on this site!

I liked the article. In the Legacy section, it says "Defender of the Future – 2000," but it doesn't say what system it's for. Maybe that's because it's more than one system.

Anyway, I'll participate in this together retro because it sounds like fun. I own most of the ports, but have never played them other than to test if they work. Maybe I'll do the Sega CD one since you made it sound like a nice game.

Now, am I supposed to report back here and give my opinion about it?

Thank you.

Awesome: I made it all the way to the Vents before I dropped the F-Bomb.

I finished this emulated on Genesis years ago. It's hard.

It is very good though so I'm tempted to replay it on the Sega CD for the excellent soundtrack (which I listened to already - it is good enough as standalone music IMO) and extra levels!

I still think about an incredibly harsh jump in one of the levels. I don't even want to think about how many times I needed to try that one until I went through. For a while I even stopped playing the game because I thought the level was glitched and the jump was actually impossible.

I don't think the major difficulty of this game is with the enemies. They are tricky but manageable.

Ivo.

I've never played the original either. I've seen it played on a Genesis back in the day, but didn't play it myself. I like this port. I think it looks good, and controls feel fluid. But sonofanass! It's hard. I'm on level 3 now. It's a jerk.

It is for the Dreamcast and PS2. And your assumption of what to do is right. Play the game, come here to talk about it. Think of Together Retro like a bookclub.
