Who here rocks the beard?
Re: Who here rocks the beard?
Hopefully one day I too can look like this, despite it not being a beard.

OMG YOU'RE A ROBO CYCLOPSHobie-wan wrote:I have really thick whiskers that just don't shave for crap. Electric razors jam on them. They clog safety razors. I haven't tried a straight, but I'm afraid I'll get too egregious and cut myself since I manage to slice my neck up every time with even safety razors. I usually just use a beard trimmer though that sometimes grabs too. If I've let it get too thick I pull out the hair trimmer to attack.
I usually keep a goatee of some shape or other and sideburns come and go in different shapes too. I usually get pretty itchy in the summer too if I let things go, but somehow the last 2 weeks haven't been bad or I've been even more lazy than usual. I think I'll go trim the hedge now.
Ah, much better.

I had a Hobie-like beard until a few days ago. I didn't shave for a month after my wife left me, and decided to clean up a bit to try and put myself back on the market.

I had a beard for a while but I keep it clean shaved now. Well, I shave like once a week or so anyhow.

Someday... I wish for greatness; I wish for the fu manchu.
For now though, I shave the stubble off every other day or so. I couldn't grow a real beard if my life depended on it.

I've been rocking the goatee since high school. I can't even picture what I would look like without it anymore.

Had either a full beard or goatee for 10 years now.
I shaved it off one summer to show my wife what I looked like without it. Total man-child. Grew it back straight away.

I know your pain. My hair is extremely thick as well. [insert pic later]Hobie-wan wrote:I have really thick whiskers that just don't shave for crap. Electric razors jam on them. I have gone through so many shavers it's ridiculous. I try to keep a tidy beard, thankfully my boss understands. I've had many a bitch about the lack of heavy duty shaving equipment on the market. Seriously. Why has nobody closed this niche yet? I have to use a portable hair clipper on my beard to keep it tidy. I shave me face on a number 0 which is still quite stubbly but as close as I can get without having the razor rip the hair out of my face, which just leads to my face being red and itchy for the rest of the day. Not a good look.
Likewise it takes me a couple of safety razors to shave my face because of clogging. Even when shaving off a number 0 size stubble. It's not worth buying a higher priced razor because I will go through the blades just as fast.

Re: Who here rocks the beard?
Exactly. Double and triple bladed safety razors are actually worse because they clog faster even right after using a trimmer with no guard. I just went back to cheapo single blade ones for the times I need or want to really shave. Of course having bloody spots on my neck kinda ruins the whole 'looking nice' angle.Niode wrote: Likewise it takes me a couple of safety razors to shave my face because of clogging. Re: Who here rocks the beard?
I shave about once every 2 months, so I get a bit of mini-beard.
