Then I shall do just that. Thanks for the advice!

However, isn't it recommended that you should measure the resistance & other such things of the CD drive both before and during adjustment of the pot?

Probably, I didn't, I just did what I said.

I want to adjust the pot, but where exactly is the thing I must adjust?

And so, the pot adjustment was a success! It only took me a few minutes to do, as emwearz said, lol.

I still have one big thing on my mind, though: what readily-available-at-retail brands of CD-R are best for burning PS1 backups? The Sonys seem to be running perfectly now, and TDKs, according to some on the Internet, seem pretty good. (Not to mention these brands are on sale at many stores in my area, heh.)

Good to hear it worked.

I use TDK for all my CD based consoles, and have never had issue with any of them, I tend to burn at 1X though, so burn at the slowest speed you can and you should get the best results.

I use yuden CD-Rs and sometimes the black bottom CD-Rs.
I always burn at the lowest speed.
Remember all laser have a life span. So you say it plays originals fine but back-ups skip.
So buy a new CD burner, your CD burner might be giving out bad burns.
PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details

Well, my already-burned back-ups don't skip anymore; all were burned at 4x and are running perfectly.

Also, I bought a 100 pack of TDK CD-Rs and they're getting the job done quite nicely. No problems as of yet.

Time to bump this topic!

And so, I have another burnt game dilemma. Recently, I have been burning games at the recommended settings, and lots of those games run flawlessly; however, some suffer from the skipping I mentioned earlier. Adding to that, some games with CDDA tracks will play certain tracks but won't play others.

Now, what could be the cause of such a thing? After doing the pot tweak, many of the games I have already burned are functioning quite well, but, to reiterate, some just aren't. Did I do something wrong?

For the one where audio tracks don't play, were they packed up with MP3s not wav files? Does your burning program automatically convert they back to wav for you?
