Well, JRPG is becoming more as a niche genre, IMO, as Western RPG's are gaining more praises around the world; IIRC, Kojima did mention that Japanese companies have to raise the bar of their standards in a JP gaming conference.
With the people around me, most kids (and teens!) are only fully aware of Pokemon and no other RPG's...

I wonder if it'd help if Namco quit bouncing from console to console with the series. If you're a fan, you pretty much have to buy every console out there to play the whole series.
