Gotta hijack this thread.

Pabstblueribbon, do yourself a favor- If you want "heavy metal", check out Electric Wizard. That would be your genuine "heavy metal". If you're interested in this death stuff, check out Razorback Records. I can't imagine any real "heavy metal" band ever associating itself with video games...

I prefer Candlemass to Electric Wizard personally.

and Razorback Records has a ton of great stuff, though a lot of it gets pretty samey sounding for me.

Isn't Razorback all goregrind bands?

Epicus Doomicus Metallicus! See also Cathedral, Pentagram and St Vitus.

For newer stuff I would go with Eyehategod, Weedeater, Dystopia or Sleep.

For me that stuff tends to work better in the movies than it does in song lyrics.

Ok, sorry for the highjacking dude!

I hardly listen to any of it for the lyrics personally. Just sayin'

and technically this is somewhat on-topic isn't it?

I suppose you are right. Personally I love me some grindcore and I thought Carcass earlier stuff was awesome, which I guess you could consider goregrind. I also love horror movies, slashers, revenge etc.. so I do not know why I do not like goregrind. Just something about it I guess.

Well personally the whole goregrind sound (especially the Razorback sound) grates on me after a while, I have to really be in the right mood to listen to most of it.

As far as heavy metal bands and video games I would just like to point out Earache Extreme Metal Racing. I have never played it 'cause it was a PAL only release so I have no idea how bad it actually sucks. I also do not know how good of a label Earache is anymore but hey, metal and video games.

oh god I had forgotten that thing existed.

I might torrent the PC version sometimes just for kicks

Earache is better right now than Roadrunner, but that's not saying much. Most of their great bands left the label a long time ago.
