Unless they came up with new ways to get custom firmware on the PSP, here's how it worked when I did it: Use your PSP linked to a computer to prepare the files on the memory stick. Use a Pandora battery (which boots the PSP into a kind of service mode) and flash the custom firmware from your memory stick. Put a regular battery back in and turn the PSP back on, now you're running CFW.
