Which current gen console is the most retro?

the Wii hands down.

I generally think Wii myself. As most of you know, I don't own a current gen, but I do keep my eye on which I might buy someday based on my retro-ish preferences. There's few exclusives on the other consoles that I'd really be after... 3D Dot Heroes is one. Maybe even the only PS3 game that would really really appeal to me that I can think of. I mean I'm slightly interested in FFXIII... but I generally don't like the 3D FF's. I'd be more into the new FFCC for Wii actually. And the screens I saw for the new Marvel Vs Capcom and Super Street Fighter 4 just don't do it for me. I love 2D fighters. Strictly. I can't really think of any 360 exclusive that seems really good to me. I liked the new Sega racing game... was that an exclusive?

I've noticed that people here are ignoring wiiware in their judgements, yet bringing up a lot of PSN and XBLA games :S

Theres lots of good retro styled stuff on wiiware, with the art-style games, Lostwinds, world of goo, the konami rebirth series, swords and soldiers, excitebike, dr mario, tetris, bomberman, megaman, the bit.trip games amongst others. I know some of this is on other services too, but I just find it odd that we all mentioned VC and retail releases on Wii and ignored the great stuff coming out on wiiware.

Also, I guess the reason I didn't think of the 360 as much of a retro machine was because I was thinking of retail releases, so I guess I'm guilty of doing the same thing for other consoles XD


Also Noiseredux, the sega racing game was on Wii, PS3 and DS aswell (and maybe PSP but I'm not sure). The 360 one had an extra bonus character (Banjo) but thats it for exclusitivity i think

I would definitely say the Wii, due to the Virtual Console being its' own service for retro games, alongside WiiWare. Speaking of WiiWare, there's a bunch of new retro-esque games on there, such as Konami's "Rebirth" remakes, the fact that Mega Man 9, for a time, was supposed to be a WiiWare exclusive, and let's not forget Nintendo's own "Art Style" series.

oh yeah I read about that remake. Was it a 360-exclusive? HG101 gave it a really bad review.

Yes and No. Some of the games are remakes of bit generation games (rotohex, orbient, light trax, intersect) whereas others are completely new (penta tentacles, cubello etc). I am counting DSiWare ones in there though, its 3:2 out of the 5 on wii that are bit generations titles.

Not exclusive. Also available on PSN... and Steam, I believe.

I of course voted for the Wii. Not just because of the VC but there are plenty of old school style games on the system itself.

XBLA has a bunch of arcade titles I grew up on (TMNT, the Simpsons Arcade game, all the stuff in Game Room, etc.). PS3 has a lot of the "new retro" as 7k put it. Wiiware has a lot of good stuff and shouldn't be excluded though (<3 Cave Story), and has the Classic Controller.

yup, your definitely getting a Wii in the near future. The black version looks awesome BTW. I have both the Wii and 360 version of the Sega Racing game and the only differences are controls, graphics and Banjo and his bird being in the game for the 360 version.
