Best Wireless Controller of All Time?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Bluetooth is just a specification for digital transmission across multiple microwave Radio Frequencies. Bluetooth is not an alternative to RF; it's an application of RF.

Sega's Remote Arcade Controller (AKA A wireless Six-Button Arcade pad, but in a 3-Button style controller's shell) has my vote for best of all time. Yes It's IR, but the way SEGA designed it is amazing. The receiver's lens and IR Transmitter on the pad are large, but indistinguishable from the shiny part on the top of a normal Genesis Six-Button Pad leading to an incredibly wide berth for the signal to be transmitted on.

Also, these guys BARELY SIP batteries at remote control proportions. I still have the same pair of AAA's that Lost_Within had in them when sent them to me in a trade over a year ago and they're going strong!

Plus, both the controller and receiver are large enough and the hardware is simple enough to perform a RF or Bluetooth mod on them for fully radio wireless Genesis controllers.

Here's some more info (He underestimates the battery life as they hadn't died at the time of his review): http://www.sega-16.com/feature_page.php ... e%20System

I love mine, its literally the only Genesis controller I use unless I've got a buddy coming over as I only have the one pad at the moment.

I would have to agree with both the wavebird and the DS3. For one, the wavebird was the first widely-used and reliable wireless controller, at least in my circle of friends. The wavebird feels like a GC controller, which is great, but the extra weight feels fantastic. I play my N64 with a rumble pak because it feels almost like a wavebird weight-wise, which is extremely comfortable. It just feels great in my hands, and non-line-of-sight wireless is very reliable.

The DualShock 3 on the other hand is practically the perfect wireless controller for me. Ridiculous battery life, amazing ergonomics, beauty in simplicity and elegance. USB charge functionality is outstanding, and even though eventually the controller will not have the same battery life the fact that i don't have to buy more batteries basically makes up for it price-wise. And the price will only continue to decrease. Plus the bluetooth technology never drops input and has outstanding range.

The X360 controller doesn't have the same feel for me, and it's too heavy in my opinion. I know a lot of people love it, but it's too big, i don't like the offset analog sticks, and moving my fingers up to hit the bumpers feels unnatural and can get irritating. I have hand tics that are triggered by uncomfortable hand movements, and my hands are freaking out whenever i play on a 360. It's just uncomfortable for me, though the wireless technology itself is definitely on par with bluetooth. I just don't like the controller design.

Teir business model of extremely low print runs of everything and anything they made, snarky attitude along with the general lack of quality (Generation Nex'es were breaking NES carts and frying themselves left and right) in their products, and never having really turned a profit finally bit them in the ass around Nov. '08.

Good Riddance! I couldn't Stand Messiah's attitude. They actually called themselves the saviors of gaming. All they did was package a Chinese famiclone inside a nice case. Even though Messiah claimed to use custom circuitry, the NEX had all the same compatibility issues and poor sound as every other Nintendo-on-a-chip.
