I'm getting rather tired of DLC myself. Usually it's stuff kept out of the final product to steal more of our money, or stuff so pointless and stupid the game is better off without it. Then there are those companies that like to screw over a section of the gaming community with EXCLUSIVE DLC. Tomb Raider Underworld comes to mind. This just shows how greedy and soulless these companies are as they could easily have said no to Microsoft asking for exclusive content. What the hell is Microsoft gonna do? Tell them no you can't release the game on our console and lose potential profits? Yeah, rightnickfil wrote:Yeah- for sega's sake i hope alpha protocol turns out to be a good game. It looks fun. I like fun.Pulsar_t wrote:I'm sick of R*'s games, and somehow I don't think RDR is vastly different to the mundane GTA4. Might get Alan Wake down the line though, but I have to wait and see what this DLC business is all about.
I hope Alpha Protocol turns out okay, despite its stiff animation and that schmuck lead character.
As far as rock star- I completely agree. I haven't played a gta other than casually when it is around, and i never had any desire to. They always looked really boring but getting slowly better? I think the change of scenery and name is what Rockstar needed to make the jump to a good game. But you know- we'll see. I like to be optimistic though.
I kinda buy a lot of shitty games being optimistic.
On a side note- fuck dlc. I mean... so i like expantions, but....look, I'm a mass effect fan. I have no idea when the dlc is going to stop being released. I'd like to get a second playthrough with all the dlc all at once. Who knows when that is going to happen.
I have seen one game that does DLC right though. Valkyria Chronicles DLC adds new story elements, harder challenges AND new weapons to acquire. Games that do DLC right are the exception rather than the rule though
