Re: Gamecube POT Tweaking.
I would note your current setting and then tweak the pot to see if battalion wars will work. Keep trying. If it doesn't work, then it's likely a bad image or bad burn.itsmattxp wrote:Right now I don't know if its either the discs or the laser. I can play games like super smash bros fine but games like batallion wars or fire emblem don't even start up. I've burned both the .iso and .gcm format of these discs and neither work. I'm guessing it is the pot?
Re: Gamecube POT Tweaking.
That is what I did. I just found an old digital multimeter and it says my POT is at 224. Tried the disc nothing. Went to 174, nothing. Should I go lower? I'm trying to prevent my laser from dying within the next few months. What is usually the lowest someone should go before its clear that it is not the PoT.
Re: Gamecube POT Tweaking.
I have set mine all over the spectrum and played the dog shit out of it and never failed on me. It is just a nightmare getting it set right. By the time someone gets done playing with it they may save money and time just softmodong a wii. Mini DVD-rs can get pricy and the cost of the cube and chip etc you are not too far from a wii.
Just my opinion from my experience.

I'm only doing a softmod with a MC with GCoS. I already had an old AR with the Memory stick from years ago and a friend of mind modded the Memory stick for free. The only thing I had to buy were blank discs so it was cheapest option. How much do modchips go for now anyways?

Re: Gamecube POT Tweaking.
Try going lower, as low as 100 temporarily.
I've found the Gamecube to be the fussiest of all my systems to play backup media. So frustrating that I just give in and just play original media. I have the Viper Extreme and I've found that GCOS was generally better at playing games than the software that comes default with the Viper. But there were some games that the Viper played better than GCOS.
Another thing to try is burning media using a different burner.
As for Battalion Wars, I seem to remember being able to play this without issues from Ritek G04 media. If you want, I can send it to you for the cost of shipping/media ($2). This might be a good baseline for you to test your system with.

I will think about the offer because it truly would be a great way to test my system. I'll let you know later when I am at home again.gtmtnbiker wrote:Try going lower, as low as 100 temporarily.

@CRTGAMER: I would buy it but I hate having some back ups and some real games.
