Re: Guitar Games
I think all these games are shite. How about just learning to play an instrument?
Re: Guitar Games
I do both and enjoy both. I don't see them as mutually exclusive activities.bobbynewmarkiii wrote:I think all these games are shite. How about just learning to play an instrument?

Re: Guitar Games
Same here. I play guitar at a high level and play these games on expert. Playing the game on Expert is a test of skill, no different to attaining a high score in any arcade game. I completely disagree with playing the game on easy or medium. There is no skill/challenge in that, that seems utterly pointless to me. People find it fun though, and I can't blame them for that.J T wrote:I do both and enjoy both. Re: Guitar Games
As someone who plays the turntables, I understand how you feel - I feel the same about DJ Hero.bobbynewmarkiii wrote:I think all these games are shite. How about just learning to play an instrument?
But, these games are fun for groups and get togethers.
And thanks to all for the input.

Turntables aren't instruments. That would be like saying a CD player is an instrument or a tape player.SpaceBooger wrote:As someone who plays the turntables, I understand how you feel - I feel the same about DJ Hero.bobbynewmarkiii wrote:I think all these games are shite. Am I the only person that enjoys playing DJ Hero?

Re: Guitar Games
If the game is made by Harmonix, play that one. Even though I think Harmonix has even dropped the ball so to speak lately... actually as much as I like Rock Band 2, I really wish they'd just patched the original Rock Band to be Rock Band 2 seeing that Rock Band is supposed to be a platform instead of a franchise... too many music games now.

Unless you're DJ Q-Bert.Niode wrote: Turntables aren't instruments.

Re: Guitar Games
I'm honestly surprised that I wasn't the first person to mention that. Despite the fact that even I've yet to delve into the series (there's no great ASC on the market, consarnit).Ack wrote:What about GuitarFreaks?
As an aside, saying that turntables aren't an instrument frustrates me, even if in jest.
My PS3 broke just when I got DJ Hero, so I haven't played it yet. I'd also like to play Crackin' DJ someday if I can ever find a cab. IIDX is incredible, but I'd liken that series to turntablism even less than I'd liken Guitar Hero to playing a guitar.
Re: Guitar Games
Guitar Hero? Pffft. Rock Band? Bah! Both of them suck compared to Frets on Fire!
